Hi guys,

Just bought a 2005 Mille R and loving it!!

I have an inkling that the bike isn't running as well as it should be! It seems to be struggling on tick over and in low revs when riding slow in 1st & 2nd. Is this normal for a twin? Also the bike cuts out now and again at the lights ect. I have been informed that the problem lies with the standard cans and if I were to put some race cans on (which I intend to do anyway) the problem will be resolved????

Is this right? Can anybody advise?

Also if anyone has any scorpion exhausts I may be interested!

Cheers

Alex

Hey Alex same year as mine low rev judder is common , i changed the gear droping one tooth on the front and puttin two on the back that sorts the judder as for the cutting out ,the clutches on these are ***** to say the least it might be needing a good bleed which is easy to do. And on to the cans forget the scorpians and get yourself a set of mivv x cones you should be able to get a pair on flea bay for £200 easy go to you tube and type in very loud factory and crank up the volume

Sounds like it could be an engine mapping issue. There are two pre-programmed maps, depending whether you have standard or non-restrictive cans fitted. You will to go to a specialist to ensure it's on the correct engine mapping. If it's the wrong one, you could well get the symptoms you describe.

My god those mivv cans sound awesome I prefer the look of the gp carbon ones though they look sweet and sound better! Type it in on YouTube. Think the police will never leave me alone one if I get those cans lol.

I will look into changing sprocket sizes if it will solve the low rev problems.

Also would I have to get a power commander for mivv cans for mapping ect?

The mivvs work pretty good on map2 your local dealer can sort it for you, i thought about the carbon gps mate but i had a set on my old sv1000 and blew a hole in the carbon youve got to keep on top of the packing in the cans and replace often as for the police beleive it or not they xcones are stampted with the numbers they look for so road legal ,the low rev judder annoyed the **** out of me but after some advice on the forum i changed the sprockets myself was a doddle but gettin the back wheel on straight is a mare and wot a difference no more judder and the thing really pulls but you will loose some top end but who really wants to do 165 on the road. Go for it Alex you wont be disappointed but once you start spending money on them you wont stop ,ask my wife????? My list of mods ...... Talon front and rear sprockets, ohlins steering damper, power commander iii ,dynojet Quickshifter , mivv x-cones ,tsubaki chain ,Kand N air filter and ma shorty levers the whole lot was bought on fleabay for not to much compared to new.
