Today I washed my Mille-R for the first time in 3 days, having travelled 500 miles in between. The roads, in Kent and Sussex are covered in dirt and grit, and to no surprise, the rear swingarm was caked in the stuff. Apart from the obvious daily wash, is there anything I can do to avoid the caking effect?

No way you can avoid it Stefano mate.

I found that catching the train to work kept mine clean. LOL

Have you used any products such as Diamond Brite or Supagalze?

They seem to stop the **** caking itself on my car, not used on the bike as I ran out of the stuff.

You can find Supaglaze stuff on Ebay pretty cheap.

PS. Did you pass us all today on the A21??

try using scottoil FS365 protection. It is water soluble spray on mineral oil protection that neutralises road salt!

It may still cake on but not attack the metal as FS365 acts as a barrier. I,ve used it for years and swear by it.

TT

If you saw a yellow Mille-R going up to London betwen 1pm and 2 pm, then it was me:biggrin

Yes mate, must have been you.

You should have popped across and said hello, we were just trying to thaw out before the next leg of the journey to **** knows where!!!

Bike looked pretty smart as it went past, must have been all that washing you've been doing. LOL

Took me a long time this very morning to wash all the crap off it. And it was freezing cold too.
BTW: were you in the group of bikers going down south, as I saw a group of bikers riding down, must have been 6 to 8 bikes, and, if my eye sight aserves me well, I think the last one of the convoy was a red Mille.

Coat all the metal surface except discs with ACF90. Superb stuff. Reacts with road salt and neutralises it on contact. You can let the crud build up for a couple of weeks before cleaning it all off and recoating if you use the bike daily.
I rode my new GSXR through one winter using the stuff and when I gave it a deep clean in the spring it came up like a bike that had been dry stored for a few months.
