Chaps, just dug the '02 Mille out of the garage after the winter lay-up and it started up almost straight away. I left it to idle for abot 3 mins until it got to 62 degrees at which point it cut out. Thinking that it had just stalled, I tried to turn it over again but it would not start. I then noticed the oil light was on and on checking the oil level, noticed it was at minimum. I then noticed that the coolant tank had about a 1/3 rd of a litre of 'clean' oil in it (clean as in no 'mayo-type' consistency). WTF is that about? It ran fine at the end of last year and I know for a fact that I haven't put oil in the damn coolant tank.
I'm hoping nobody is going to say head gasket / cracked block either
After it initially cut out, it sounded like it was trying to start but just wouldn't catch so it isn't seized. Would the oil sensor on a Mille prevent the bike from starting if the oil is low?
What do you reckon my plan of action should be? My plan is to get some more oil, top it up and try starting it again (....gently) whilst keeping an eye to see if any oil starts filling up in that coolant tank
