Hi All,

Well my bike has just killed a brand new battery in 2 weeks. It has a Meta e587 alarm fitted as oe, now wondering if this is the cause. When the bike is running it seems to be giving the correct charging voltage.
This is now the 3rd battery in 6 months, YTX12BS fitted i know the 14BS is an upgrade but will it cure things.

Do you use a optimate? When you say "killed the battery" what does that mean, slow turnover?
Check the CCA rating of the batteries you are using, being a big v twin they really need a minimum of 200 plus so it may not be that you have toasted the battery it might just be that with the alarm you have it was just not man enough in the first place.

It has drained the battery from giving no problem one day to not starting the next. The dashboard would dim then just solenoid click if you kept trying to start it, charcged last night and started then this morning nothing. That battery was 2 weeks old.
The YTX12BS is what is fitted as standard so i replaced with it. Now have put the YTX14BS on which people on here recommend, but even weirder things happening now.

The alarm does not set at all now and the immobiliser not seeming to work as when you turn ignition on you are not needing to disarm anything. If you switch off ignition there is no red flashing key or alarm led flashing. But the strangest thing and remember all started since yesterday, now you switch the ignition off and dashboard goes out no electrics work like lights etc but engine still runs you can even take the key out. Only way to switch engine off is with the kill switch. But you can also now start it with the ignition off.

Well have had a look at the wiring and the alarm removal begins tomorrow, so fingers crossed.

Alarm fully remove, took 45 mins which i think is pretty good going. Only thing is the red key light still flashes on dashboard when ignition off, is this correct with alarm removed.
