Mega Weird RSV/PCIII Fault

So there I was out riding the mille in a force 9 gale with horizontal rain yesterday afternoon, I'm cruising at 90 and suddenly the bike cuts out and starts to die. As the speed drops off I pull the clutch in and give it a couple of blips on the throttle, nothing then suddenly ok again. By now I'm doing 60 so start to cruise and suddenly the engine cuts again.

I see a layby so flip the left indicator on and weird things start to happen man, pull in the clutch and the revs are pulsing up to 9000 and dropping off repeatedly. Pull into the layby and stop, all seems ok so decide to try and pull away again. As soon as I let the clutch out the engine stops dead. Being a pissed off at this point decide on a kill or cure plan of attack and restart the millie reving it to the rev limiter a few times (well I have a spare motor and I was bloody wet). All again seems ok so pull away and get about 100 yards and bham the engine cuts again. I put the indicator on and pull up on the side of the road and the motors pulsing/reving up and down again. Deciding it might be the ecu I kill the motor and take the rear seat cowl off where I notice that the big watty resistor that was fitted to make the left LED indicator work is sitting on top of the PCIII. I move the resistor and for good measure **** the PCIII cable about. Restart the motor and all seems ok, pull away and ride another 60 miles in wot feels like a hurricane and no more problems. Well weird.

Has anyone else had any trouble with PCIII's in the wet??

i've had the exact same thing happen to me on my TLR. water gets into the connectors. Give it a proper drying out and you should be ok. To prevent it from happening again, get some electrical grease in there, it'll keep the water out. :thumbup
