John McGuinness won his 15th TT today, and grabbed an outright lap record in the process. The Dainese Superbike race came a bit later than expected, after the weekend’s races being cancelled to high wind and rain, but didn’t disappoint the Monday crowd with close racing, and record breaking laps.

After a lightning fast first lap, McGuinness stretched his advantage even further over the*competition*over the remaining iterations of the Mountain Course. Coming into the pits after his second lap, it had become apparent that effort McGuinness had smashed the outright lap record that he set in 2007 with an average MPH of 130.442. He would go on to take the day with a*comfortable*18 second cushion.

With today marking his 15th victory at the Isle of Man TT, McGuinness becomes the second most winning rider at the circuit, behind Joey Dunlop who won the historic race times 26 times.

Honda was the other big winner of the day, with 5 first places attributed to the winged motorcycle company. Honda was celebrating its 50th anniversary of racing at the Isle of Man.

Dainese sponsor Valentino Rossi was also at hand today, and took a lap around the course on his first visit every to the Isle of Man.
