Hi all from a newbie! Have seen a number of posts regarding map1/map2 fuel maps. can anyone explain the difference and whether this needs to be done by a dealer? I have recently fitted a FUEL high level exhaust (baffles in). Sounds better than original(what wouldn't!) but at low speeds, pick up is a bit erratic.

What year is your bike?. You can change from map 1 to 2 yourself you need to cut a wire on the ECU (this has probably been done already) you also need to remove a plate in the airbox. if you do a search you should find some photos of which one needs cutting if not pm me with you email address and ill send you a photo from my bike.

Thanks for that Booleyblade! Mine is 2003 model but didn't realise these bikes came restricted. As you say, probably done already but would appreciate photos if possible

The bikes can be a bit snatchy down low, you could try a custom eprom (check whats in you ECU might already be changed RP58 on chip is standard) or a power commander sorts out the throttle and makes it smoother. Dr Rossi on this site or Gabro on AF1 forum do custom chips to match your bike. I'll try to upload some, if not PM me your email address and ill send some later today.

Cheers

Dave

Generally the low end up to about 1/3rd throttle is all about the Co/Tb setup as much as anything you can throw in chip wise.

The best chip in the world will be snatchy if that is not done as each cylinder is receiving different fuel/air etc. They have to be balanced.

If you're running standard gearing, lowering it makes 'em much nicer round town as well.

Thanks for that:thumbup:thumbup

I've learnt something new today already.:doug

Am I right in thinking that models 2002 and later have no 2nd map so the wire should not be cut? If this wire has been cut what effect will it have on the later models?

USA models only have 1 map for 2002 models but Uk still requires the wire to be cut.

cutting the wire wouldn't actually do any harm on the single map versions because that same map is in both locations on the chip
