Not sure if this has been covered - could not find an answer through the "search" function and need some pointers/help.

My rear brake has started to bind (locks on). Starting happening yesterday on the commute home through town and then again on motorway commute in to work this morning - both times pulled up, identified hot rear disc and clicking sound....wait 15 minutes, it cools and I cautiously continue to destination.

This evening did not touch the rear brake (or even go near the damn thing) and after 3 miles - same thing

How can it bind/lock on when it has not even been touched :confused

(first time it happened - confused, but could accept that I may have been resting right foot on rear brake lever (very unlikely) but this morning was extra aware of rear and limited useage BUT this evening my foot was virtually on the rear peg!)

Advice/opinions/pisstake welcome:pirate

LOL you could sell that mate, an RSV with a working rear brake. :thumbup

No honestly though, if it has just started doing it then make sure your push rod free play is set right (See the manual) if that's fine then strip out the pads and make sure they are not all rusted up and make sure the pistons move freely too.

Oh! forgot to say, make sure you haven't got too much fluid in the reservoir.

More than likely the pads rusting up, mine did that the day I bought it.

i bought a mityvac seeing as i have this dodgy rear brake and a hydraulic clutch. Bled the rear with it today. Piece of piss and now have a brake that works. The fluid that came out was like honey!

Thanks for advice - now resolved.

Finally the dealer to kept the bike for a couple of days and found it starting to bind as they rode it.

Only cure was to trim 3mm off of the brake rod lever and so essentially introduce more "play" in the rear brake foot ever.

No one can figure out why but it has cured the issue :confused
