Cant belive its 2012 already and planning a few two or three day trips out.
However, never used the T for more than day trips and dont know what to carry all the stuff in.
Tank bag, throw over panniers or a ruck sack?
No tents B&B only.

I've only ever used a tail pack when been away, big enough for 4 day trips.
I'm not happy with a ruck sack, puts a strain on my back.

I tried a big ruck sack when I went to Assen.

It was a bit uncomfortable after a while, but the strange thing is that it made the bike feel more stable when going fast, on the continent of course.

Must be something to do with aerodynamics.

Going to the TT this year with the Missus on the back - so need a tankbag and panniers - any recommendations, bearing in mind Im now skint with ferries and hotel !

Huge ruck-sack for the missus, big enough for both of you.

At least it will be a cumfy landing if she falls off the back.

Kriega stuff is superb - when I've done camping tips on the T I've used a US20 tailpack with a 40l drybag bungied on top and carried more than enough.

I would avoid a ruck sack - got well pissed off with one in southern Germany & posted the ****** home on my last day!

Have a Famsa Tank bag which is excellent...

Ventura rack seems an excellent solution too...

Have you tried a Kriega rucksack though? They are fantastic with the quad-loc system, my R25 is ace but expensive @ about £90.

Also have a US20 tailpack same as Gilo, that's top as well.

Havnt tried the Kriega to be fair.... it was just some cheap piece of crap that went straight to the tip !

I 've got some Oxford soft panniers & tailpack for this years escapades. Went to Assen with a rucksack & straps did dig into shoulders & restricted blood circulation in the arms which were'nt very handy as i find them usefuln when riding a bike. Was an army rucksack & had waist & chest straps but am lead to believe that bike specific ones are designed taking your riding position into consideration. Unlike an Army/hiking one. Second hand stuff is cheap enough on E Bay. Thinkn I paid about £15.00 for the tailpack. Got panniers at NEC bikeshow on special offer. Will try them out when we go to Abergavenny on 8th April.

ahv got a faithful 35L ancient Oxford job thats jist perfect fur a weekend jaunt but ahm needin somethin bigger for the hale weeks worth o keks trainers and stuff.

Me trusty auld Oxford pack....

Cheers for the advice lads - reckon I can persuade the mrs to have a rucksack and get some soft panniers - that way I'll hopefully avoid a tankbag ;)

hi jase, renntec rack with soft panniers and 40l dry bag, dry bag is bungee,d on in front of grab rail providing a back rest for the missus, did 3000 mile with this set up thru northern spain , pyranees, french alps , top of scotland , north and south wales with full camping gear 2 up! panniers are left on the bike strapped on under the seat and kit put into dry bags in them, just take the dry bags out at the end of the days riding, simples!!
