I’ve ridden my just purchased 2007 RSV twice and I suppose I’m lucky I didn’t break it before I had a chance to fix it! I'm dieing to get this bad boy back on the road. With the recent crappy weather I’ve learned the following (if I totally screwed something up please let me know):
1) How to property check oil level (ride for 10 minutes, set bike level position, turn engine off and immediately check engine oil level) Yes, I did read the owners manual! Yes, i kinda freaked out when i checked cold engine oil level! Close call!
2) I’ll upgrade my battery to a an AMG XB-14 CCA220 (close to a YTX14-BS or YTZS-BS)
I also found an Aprilia service bulletin on another forum affecting RSV 1000 V2 models - after disconnecting the battery you must then turn ignition on without starting the engine for 15 seconds after reconnecting the battery if you have the MARELLI instrument panel. If not this may cause battery power consumption around 20 times more current than normal. I just did the 15 second key on 20 minutes ago!
3) Brown connector modification (by 2007 model should this not have been corrected?)
4) 4 wire white plug rectifier modification (see service bulletin above....i hope i don't need to do this)
5) Upgrade battery cables
6) Upgrade solenoid to 100/150 amp model (I’ll try the Yamaha unit)
Have I missed anything?
