im fitting a lowering kit to my t today, does anybody know what the torque seting is for the three bolts on the link plate below the rear shock absorber

How tall are u ******? I'm not huge and can get both feet flat on the floor.

Anyroads back to the thread. I'm not sure of the torque settings. Are u dropping the forks as well though as will lowering it affect handling?

ye bay will have to drop the forks to make sure i drop the front and back the same. im only 5-6 to 5-7 on a good day and not much hair only good thing is i ride a T.

If you are using the original side stand, than make sure it is still at a safe angle...... and dont get a rear puncture (thay can fall over as std, could be worse lower)

thanks for that felix, lowered the bike front and back got 20mm out of it. can get 35mm out of the back but not the front so kept it to 20, i can touch the floor with both feet at the same time now not flat just the toes and balls of my feet, feel safer at junctions ect now, gave it a good blast today and it still handles weel so job done, and yes could do with sorting the stand.

thanks again keith ye it does look good, but like you said its not cheap think i will look for one of a fireblade and shorten it by 20mm.

hey hang on now rusty not that clever, only just about turn the putter on never mind post photos. if someone sends me there mob number i will send pics via my phone and they can post them if that will help.

Hi ******, I've ordered a lowering kit as like you I'm not tall and sick of worrying on cambers at lights etc. Was your kit adjustable as I notice you kept it to 20mm?

Why dont you stop fannying round with the bike & do the same as everyone else that is vertically challenged & use your tippy toes.
I seem to have managed for years.
Whats the big issue about getting both feet flat on the floor when you are sitting on a bike.

My neighbour has a buell Ulysses and can't get both feet on the floor on tip toes at same time. It's either one or the other. He has the lower seat on as well but still can't do it. He admits the bike is too big for him and he's dropped it in the back lane outside his garage as he couldn't get his foot down. I guess when you spend your hard earned cash on things you want to do as little damage to them as possible so getting them lowered to fit you makes sense to me.

I like quite a tall bike myself with the back end raised and front lowered for handling. I don't like getting my both feet flat on the floor as feel the bikes too small for me. The t I have is just right though as my feet are planted with my heels just lifted ever so slightly.

I guess each to their own really isn't it.

Obviously you can get both feet down comfortably or you wouldn't make a comment like "fannying about". Do you have to look at every stopping point to assess which foot to put down? Do you never take a pillion as you can't be safe when stopping? Do you have to get off your bike to park it or get it out of a space while your mates just ride in and back out? That is the reallity and it takes away from every ride. I've already dropped it once and got away without serious damage. Do you think I would waste cash making changes like this just to get my feet flat? And let's not make suggestions about cruisers and the likes as I've been down that crap road too. Yes it's a compromise and the bike will lose clearance but on most roads it shouldn't make a difference.

No I cant, hence the tippy toes.
Yes I do.
Yes, but I try to be safe when stopping.
Yes.
Additionally, I try to leave the stand down when I climb on because when I take a big swing to get my leg over & I have nearly dropped it a couple of times.
