Lower the BIKE

Is there a way to lower the RSV R Factory 08 and how much would this affect my handling? I find the bike is about an 1in on the high side being only 5'8. I think the width of the seat may have something to do with it as well.

seen the kits being sold so its definately possible, imho it would wreck the handling and i have heard of poorly made parts *snapping* expensive and risky enough that i would never consider it, i am a bit paranoid about that kinda stuff tho

have you setup the preload on suspension properly for yourself? im sure its not impossible to reshape the seat foam and get it reupholstered to suit your needs also

hi mate, be careful messin with the suspension, i really upset the handling on mine, i am 5 foot 6 and i lowered everything, i took foam from the seat, lowered the rear shock, in the end it would not go round corners,:dunno in the end griff sorted it for me, you need to take as much preload off the front as the back otherwise it upsets the atitude of the bike ie front should be lower than the back, use griffs suspension setup guide its very helpful, dont bother with the lowering kit, mine is fine now without one, good luck. :thumbup

5'6" fooking ell Busman Im 5'7" and I struggle with the hight, mate tell me more I would love to get her lower.

You need a pair of these

I take it there's no ride height adjuster on the later bikes

set up your preload correctly (and the rest of your suspension for that matter) and it will likely end up with the ride height being more suited to your requirements

wolf is right, if you take off preload it makes a hell of a difference to the ride height, just do it equally front and back, taking a bit of foam from the seat does no harm either, but you need a good stapler to put the cover back on. dont be tempted to drop the forks through the yokes more than it says in the manual, 4 notches showing is standard, 5 is racing setup, good luck. :smilie

I've lowered my bike with total 1" front ( 5 lines are seen from Öhlins/ new triangles in the back) and while the bike is now horizontally in the same position as when purchased I feel that everything is fine or even better, if they advertised better ride with gen 2 when motor was dropped with 4 mm. quess what the total drop of 1" makes to handling trought the lower middleweight position ? But I've not visited track, this is just my suburban bike, and what comes to seat and height I did take the hard ankles away from it, now I can sat on it almost as comfortable as in Ducati ..... :T

This tuned 'saddle' does NOT do that pressure to your inside legs !

Just pointing now that the dampers have not fixed, those are as they were so the drop was done mechanically ( front struts are higher, in rear new triangle plates which give extra inch lift to swingarm measured from rear axle).

Bike is handling superb as far as my opinion is concerned ......

Oh you guys are soooo funny.
Right back to the adult stuff lol. I think I may have found my issue today as I spent the whole day on the track. It's the seat width I'm sure of it so I'm going to get it remodelled. Thanks for the info.
