Hi, not sure if I've mentioned I'm going to the TT :yes, on 2nd June. Its a long ride to Heysham from Mablethorpe, then lots of riding whilst over there. Any particular (Tuono specific) areas I should give extra attention to, before such a lot of riding away from home? Daz

I know its not direct advice Daz but you will love the Isle of Man. Im off there on Thursday next week and go every year just to ride and have a laugh with the lads. Ive gone loads on the GSXR but as I only got the Tuono in March it will be my first trip on the new bike.

I would just make sure its well serviced, plenty tread on tyres, brake pads etc. Once you are there you will just want to ride and ride. The mountain is an awesome experience particularly for the 1st time but try and get round the place as its all good.

I always take a puncture repair kit (got mine at BMW) as it has small gas tubes to inflate the tyre once fixed. If you need parts once you are there there is a Padgetts in Douglas and the locals will always help bikers.

To add to the good advice from Heds,.....
I always carry a puncture kit under the seat. You can get them for around £20 on Ebay. While your at it,a small tin of chain lube is handy. If you are unlucky with the weather, the wet can wash all the chain lube off.
There are a few bike dealers on the IOM,but they do get very busy during TT week and often run out of stuff. Most of them know nothing about Italian bikes. If you do need spares, take some phone numbers and order the parts yourself.Get them sent to yer digs.
Dont try and break the lap record on yer first attempt. There are some very quick boys and girls there and its easy to get sucked into going quicker than you think.
Dont forget to post loads of pics when yer get back.

Cheers Heds, I have had service last month, new tyres, also got a puncture kit like yours, It was someone on here that recommended that type with the gas canisters. I cant wait to go, have you been during TT fortnight? Daz

Thanks Keith, I have a small can of the wurth lube, I hadn't thought of that:thumbup, I will try to go at my own pace and not get carried away (on a stretcher). Haven't mastered posting pics but will defo get some on here on my return. Daz

Been to TT Daz but not on the bike. It's mental on tt week and we go when it's quiet just to ride. Hope you don't need it but there is an Aprilia dealer there http://www.pauldedman.com/ should get you anything if you need it. Take it easy and don't try and keep up with the locals whatever they are riding or driving ! The 1st time I came past Kate's cottage and onto the creg will be a memory I keep forever.

Keep it safe and you will definitely return !

Try Try Try and keep a level head when you go for a lap or 2,and have a great time! Oh!, and take your waterproofs.

I'm off to France in a week. So the T's off to Aprilia performance for a service. Checked tyres , checked toolkit is under the seat so I can adjust the chain if needed. Credit card and toothbrush and if it all goes to pot AA relay membership card. Looking at the weather forcast I may pack a snorkel as well :yes

recent service, recent tyres, chain lube, puncture kit.... waterproofs.... sounds like youve covered most of em !
last visit for me.... apart from "mad sunday" hardly used the bike at all.... tiz only a small island tbf so enjoy the ride there, have a good blat when the time is rite..... - have a few bevys n come back in one piece with a bloody big grin that will last fir months... then make sure you plan the return...

:)

I know we are all getting on a bit, but what about the basics, ££££££ & condoms.

Dont forget BFH - bus fare home.

Great advice guys. I cant bloody wait, I will bore the **** of you about it, when I get back...

its nae as if yer goin the long way roond is it Daz min. Its only a hop an a skip.

Simple basic maintenance up tae date and yer credit card....sorted

rmin, I'd hate tae see whit he'd post if he wiz aff tae the south of France.

Maybee he'll turn intae a right ADV rider effter his long haul tae the IOM. :roost

......thirs mair mileage in a good ole weekend FudFest

The police inIOM are hot on speeding in built up areas. As you come off the mountain, past craig-ne-bah there'sa long 40 limit - they sit there. you know what i mean when you are there.

You will see some shocking riding. 2011 some berk put himself under a police car on the mountain section. they kept closing it because people were being silly... i nearly had off with people undertaking me in bends - use mirrors!

Best time to ride is very early cos all the knobbers will have been out of raz night before, fill up night before and enjoy the limitless roads to yourself.
so you get the roads to yourself....and then it is truely magical....
don't bother riding on Mad Sunday it's too busy and people still half0cut.

got some photos if it would make you more excited. (so to speak)

EL, it sounds a bit scary wae all those wanna bee's ridin aboot still pissed fae last night. :eek
