Link plates arrived today, fitted them this afternoon. lashed bike to the rafters in the garage. old plates off no trouble. decided to grease bearings, no problem until i loosened the nut on the left hand side of the frame to flat plate mount. didn't check the right side first. no bolt, recessed allen bolt, so close to the exhaust you can't get to it. 30 mins spent cutting a brand new allen key down with an angle grinder. managed to get the allen key in and locked the nut back up. other bearings seemed to have been greased so not over worried about that one. it will have to wait until i feel more adventurous and take the exhausts off.
any how new plates on and ready to ride. just unfortunate that i have to work all weekend. fingers crossed for Monday/ Tuesday weather.
Also fitted the quick release seat pins and R clips while i was at it, no more problems with the bolts. its getting there slowly.:thumbup

Did mine two or three months ago

I got these from a kind gentleman called Spoonz, i am sure they were manufactured by MPL, very nicely made, Spoonz is a member on here.

You dont need to take the exhaust i off mate, take the spring off and drop the tube from the header pipe by about 2" and you can get the bolt out

Why they didnt put the bolt in the other way to make it easy baffles me but thats the way the casting is on the engine .... HTH

Didn't even bother to remove the exhaust springs when I did mine, was an easy swap over....

Can't understand why you guys had to remove anything, even with my 60mm bore exhaust giving less room it is still easy to do:dunno

easy to remove the link plates, i agree. but while there, i decided to grease the bearings, and it is imposible to pull the bolt to remove the flat bar link from the rear of the engine casing.
Not familiar with the exhaust layout yet so thought the exhaust headers from head to link pipe joint was all one piece. from memory, removing just the link pipe wouldn't have given enough room.
