KPH and RPM keeps resetting

Hi there, I'm the new owner of a 2000 RSV Mille and I have a dashboard that resets itself every time the bike is switched off. The clocks are in KPH and the RPM resets to 6000 RPM, I know how to change these things but every time I turn the bike off, even for a few minutes it's back to KPH and 6000 RPM again. Is there some sort of battery backup in the clocks that has run out of juice....? Hopefully somebody knows how to fix this, the bike is fine otherwise. Thanks for your help ....anyone.

Yeah its usually a sign of a weak battery. How does she turn over and start?

She will reset if anything robbing amps on start up.

I had the same until i got a new battery with a high CCA rating (cold cranking amps) of at least 200 CCA.

All is good now.:thumbup

Also their are a few mods you can do like removing the brown connector to improve charging that will help keep your battery in tip top condition.

Search for posts about charging issues is where to start mate.

A small tip if you go down the new battery route is to charge your new battery befor you fit it to the bike. Use a "optimate battery carer" as most new batteries come 75% charged so no matter how long you charge them that is all you will ever reach again.

Thanks for the info, I've only had the bike a few weeks so I'm still learning about it. I is fitted with a high power 14A battery which is supposed to help with the starting, I have also fitted an optimate fly lead but not had it hooked up all week. Last Sunday I did 50 miles and no resets other than the initial one, even though I did a few stop / starts. I'm trying not to use the kill switch as somewhere I read that might have something to do with it... Thanks
