Key question, help please

Does a 2003 RSV1000R (mille) have an immobiliser chip inside the key. I only got one key with mine and am taking a trip to wheels in Peterborough at the weekend with mate to pick up his new bike. I called them today to see if they could cut me one and he said I might have to get it programmed to bike?. Bike has an aftermarket alarm and immobiliser and the key is pretty skinny so I assumed it didn't have chip in?.

Hi, Ive got a standard RSV ( all be it upgraded to Ohlins) of the same year as yours and like you only got one key with the bike.
First thing I did was to pop in to my local Timpsons and get a new one cut. I use either the original or the new key with no issues.

It's the Gen 2 (2004 on) that your dealer is thinking of

Oval keys = cheap with no transducer
Triangular key = expensive , you can see the little rectangular transducer on the side, size of a tic tac, but set in.
