Hello All, was looking to put a K&N filter in as I have race pipe and matching Aprilia chip on the bike now but when I checked it tonight it was scruffy with what looked like oil. Ive taken it completely to bits and cleaned it all but was wondering if it has been overfilled with oil in the past and blown through as there is a breather pipe linked to the rear cam cover. Anyone shed any light on this one for me please ?

Also anyone had any experience of changing the filter to a K&N etc as I was wondering whether it really makes much difference ?

Thanks, Heds

ye most prob had to much oil at some point k&n fillters let the bike breath better more air better performance and last a life time just need a clean

I thought K&N filters were supposed to be oily? Its there to collect muck and grit to stop it going into the engine. You are supposed to clean, then re-oil the filter at regular intervals.Loads of filter cleaning/oiling products out there,...do a search.

I got K&N's but also Power commander & Custom maps. Gave me an extra 4BHP & 2 Ftlb torque.

But fuel consumption is pretty **** I get about 80mikles from brim full to reserve light coming on.

They are Keith, but only lightly, depends how oily his is. I would guess its been over filled, many post on here recently about bikes having too much oil in after service

I looked at the mark Griff put on mine when i cleaned it and its just below the half way on the sight pipe
