Just had service and now stalls when warming up

very many thanks Spoonz. I hope the dealer will call me back today as im hesitant to lift the tank (i could probably *just* about do this) without speaking to them first. Obviously, I don't want to risk causing any damage or doing anything which may jeopardize the dealers ability to resolve this.

I pretty sure I have a mate who can tell a spanner from a wrench, so push comes to shove, i may have to buy him some beer tonight :)

Holding the throttle part open just to keep the revs up till it warms up would be ok. Its the repeated starting which could cause the damage. These engines take so much power to get em going you dont want to be draining the battery too much.

tbh, i'd much rather buy a new battery (60/70£?) than have new a new chuff or whatever it was :devious at 500 of the queens finest:thumbup

Having said that, i started it last night and this morning with no backfire from butterflies by holding it open from start and at a really low level - about 1.5k revs.

Only problem is, i have no response from the dealer (phoned and left a message and also emailed them):confused

Stuza, ring Southern Cross and ask them to sort it. Don't mess about, it shouldn't take more than an hour or so.

Well, due to a lack of response from the original dealer i've now booked it in via Tim @ Southern for a quick check on Saturday. Only hope it can be done quick enough so I don't miss any of the rugby :thumbup Guess i'll also have to take it easy on the beer Friday night as well

Tiny little worry though, the original guy I spoke to at Southern didn't know what a Bol'Dor was :roll Tim did though, so that was a relief!

Got a mate coming round tonight though and we will lift the tank and check for the lose vac pipe, hopefully thats all it will be and I won't have to worry about getting it to Southern on Sat morning. Also a little worried that once they see my Bol'Dor i'll get loads of abuse as its a work of art - covered in 200miles worth of mud from commuting round the M25 each day in the rain hehehe

Knowing Don and Andy at Southern Cross, I very much doubt that they don't know what a Bol D'Or is, did you speak to an Italian sounding bloke who is in the sales/admin?

I would put money on them being able to sort you bike within 30 mins, if the fault is as described.

Take a look at Don's racebike while you're there, if it's not out - your Bol D'Or won't be the most precious thing in the shop covered in crud :bling

In addition, you mention that it's 15 miles - I take my bike all the way across London to Southern Cross rather than use the franchised Aprilia dealer who is less than 1 mile from my houes, because my experiences there have been poor.

I also knew of someone who brought their Mille up from the South Coast to Southern Cross as he wouldn't take it anywhere else, and thought so highly of them.

You can always take it to your local bike shop, but you've done that, and it ain't running right is it - so you would have ended up going there twice (if you were to take it back), so 15 miles for 1 trip, doesn't sound so bad?

I travelled 150 miles to go to southern and would happily recommend anyone else to go the boys are legends.

hey guys

well i got brave and realised VERY quickly that getting the tank to pop was actually very easy. Lifted it up and had a good look and couldnt find any loose/disconnected pipes. So, will carry on taking it down to SC on Saturday morning.

In the meantime....... if you like pictures of filthy, dirty things .... then ....

(i cleaned a finger length on each panel and used the camera on my phone)

The original garage have been in contact and they have a very good reason for not responding - which I won't go into but fully understand. They have offered to check it out and diagnose etc but as you guys have said, I think i feel more comfortable going to an Aprilia dealer - specialy one so highly recommended. The guy I original spoke to was not Italian sounding. Tim however, knew exactly what it was.

Thanks again mr original dealer, do appreciate your efforts given your circumstances. When I need tyres/mot etc, I will be straight back to you!
