After years of riding Motor Guzzis (le Mans 2, 1100 sport injection) and thinking this is fun but wouldn't it be great if it weighed about 50kg less has about a metre shorter and had another 20+bhp.

For some reasons I kept coming back to a Tuono as best meeting my requirements, Italian, V twin, great reviews.

Anyway splashed out 4.8 on an '07 in Blue with 2.5 K on the clock, bog standard besides a couple of front wheel crash bobbins and an R&G belly pan.
Suspect it had an off at some stage though the only signs is a missing bolt from the end of the right footrest and the fact that it only has front whell crash bungs when surely it would have had a full set at some time.

100 miles later - I've got a large grin and a few questions

whats the red flashing light for when the ignitions turned off - just to make people think theres an alarm?

And the plastic trim at the front behind the fork legs covering the frame - what point does it serve and can it be removed?

And whats this thing at the back that throws oil everywhere - where the shaft should be.

I though Moto guzzi side stands where odd but this ones leathal - especially on my gravel drive.

Cheers
Chris

G'day and welcome to the Zone Crisis.

The flashing light is an ignition immobiliser. Your ingnition switch, as I understand it, is paired to a passive receiver in your keys.

There are many plastic covers on this motorcycle to take the place of the fairings of its progenitor RSV. I can't quite picture which one you mean though. A piccie would explain it.

That foreign thing at the back - it's a C H A I N mate:yes, and it needs regular doses of oil to keep it working. It should be attached to a 15 tooth sprocket on the front, and a 42 - 43 on the rear to get the best out of this awesome bike.

Good luck and post up some general pics when you get the chance

and the orange light that keeps coming on after about 105 miles is the petrol light. You will see that quite a lot but dont worry youll get use to it

Sorry hadn't got around to pictures it's the bit directly behind the indicators I was asking about.

Got through a couple of tankfulls this weekend - managed 118 miles before the light appeared but my left foot has been programmed to change up at 8K for the last 30 years and its taking a bit of re-training - and hopefully get through plenty more tankfulls next week- long weekend in France - hurrah.

One more question -are the maintenance cds on e-bay worht the cash or is there a freee source ofthe same stuff.

Cheers
Chris

Them things behind the winkers can only be to keep the wind of your knees ,don't do out else do they?. You reckon the T has good wind protection ? I do. :fart

Welcome to the fray. As you may have noted, there are some strong personalities here. As I am a shy retiring wallflower I took a little longer to say hello. I have the fast colour, matte black. She makes me soooo happy that I am moving to a warmer clime so that I may enjoy her vibrations coming through the tank to tickle my nuts 365 days a year...

Hark! 'Tis the cry of Maximus Wallflowerus. A quite rare species. When Maximus speaks, all should listen to such wisdoms as may be offered by this shy, reclusive beast.

Shvlheads moving to a warmer climate. Must be coming to England. And it never rains here.

Just back from France, 1,500 miles - slightly spoilt by rain fog and mate on a speed triple having a serious off (he's out of ICU now).

Thoughts on the bike
- Having wound down the rear shock so I can get both feet on the ground it only took me a week to realise the lights were pointing at the sky - couldn't find the adjusters (I was assuming it was the 4 allen key bolts but these seem to move the lenses side to side - now Im back have read the manual!) on the good side no body even thought of pulling out in front of me. Still winding the shock down makes the side stand less of a danger.

- Bl**dy h*ll its quick - I'm not sure I've got the neck muscles yet to cope with full trottle for more than a few seconds.

- Handlings superb nothing up-set it and it goes exactly where you point it.

- Managed 40mpg overall (but rain/trips to distant hospitals meant it was largely auto routes and N roads)

Now I just need
a new set of tyres
to do the wiring mods
a taller screen
a few more crash bungs
polish up the heal guard the PO must have had metal boots that scratched them to bits.

Cheers

Sounds like you had some fun Crisis - don't know about your mate though. I hope all's well for him soon.

Good luck getting your headlight to point at the black stuff in front of you now that you've adjusted the rear end:banghead

Good to see you're enjoying your Bella Italiano as much as the rest of us.:thumbup

Cheers all

Mates a bit stuffed - turns out the health insurance didn't cover bikes and the breakdown recovery didn't cover accidents so him and the bike are stuck in France for now. Hopefully the comprehensive insurance willl bring the bike back but he may have to get the train (can't fly following the punctured lung!). May be easiest to hire a van and go and pick them both up.
