Hi all,

First post so be gentle!!
I am about to look at some used tuono's could you help by answering a couple of questions please?
1. Is the factory worth the extra money?
2. Should i worry about milage, one bike is a 2005 factory 1 owner fsh but 17000 miles?
3. The other is a 2004 1 owner fsh 8000 miles?
4. is it comfy i am coming from a vtr 1000,dl1000, bandit 1200, versys, plus lots of older stuff !!

Thanks for the help hopefully joining you soon.

Welcome to the forum. In answer your questions.
1.Yes if you like bling and the added upgrades to the suspension/wheels.
2.Nah,I would'nt worry about 17K miles in 5 years.Works out around 3.4k a year,....nowt really.
3.Even less miles,....it really has done nowt.
4.Ya dont really buy a T for comfort, but yeah, you'll be ok.Get a test ride if yer not sure.

1. Yes it is (ps I have the standard R, couldn't stretch to the factory)
2 & 3. If properly looked after the extra miles should not be a worry. Only point to bear in mind is the effect on value
4. It's as comfy as all the above

PS I'm assuming you're looking at first generation Tuonos. As much as I love the look of the Gen1's, the Gen2's are a better bike as Aprilia sorted the bugs (well...most of them...)

what bugs ??
The factory with 17 miles is the same price as the r at 8K miles. Will the better shock on the factory be past its best now?
Test ride tuesday hopefully :)

Awright Pikeman, howzit goin? Welcome tae the murky world o T Ownership (potentially). Either one will pit a smile oan yer coupon so dive in.:D

Your nae related tae an Oirish Pike ur ye?

the gen 2 is more refined than the gen 1
both are just as comfy as the other bikes you listed
the factory has all the bling but the standard r is very good indeed
build quality is excelent and dont worry about mileage cos these seem to get better with age and use

ps nothing will put a bigger smile on your face better than a tuono !!

apart from a gorgeous blonde with big knockers

Ah heard short n thick does the trick an lang n thin goes too far in! Ah could aye fold it in half....

Now back tae the topic please before ah git awe rid knecked..

Right test ride tuono tomorrow should be fun following a frost !!!! Also for comparrison taking a new shiver gt out, always find it hard to evaluate bikes when tested in isolation. Will let you know how i get on. I think the tuono is overpriced. Its the one with 17K buts its not a factory, its an R but they want 4.5K for it. Seen 7000 mile ones for 3K

Be very interested in which one you go for.
I nearly bought a new Shiver GT but went for the Tuono cos its mental.
Had a Z1000 (58 plate) befor and it was so uncomfortable.
Best of luck and keep riding.
R

ps. Where abouts are you?

Hi,

Im in Worcetsreshire. I like the look of the shiver just not sure its going to have the grin factor. Usual dilemma a nearly new shiver with virtually no miles or an older tuono ??

if you can stretch to it go for the factory, its one hell of a peice of kit.. the r is great too but bear in mind the standard rear shock is a total pile of ***** !!

Definitely go for the extra cc's. I got a 53 plate racing with 9k on the clocks and the shocks etc are good. I didn't even bother to test ride the 2. Liked the Gen 1 and bought it. For all the comparisons the Gen one doesn't suffer with the Blue wire problem (or summut like that) and it dioesn't run the CAN BUS wiring system which I prefer as much simpler to work on theoretically.
