how to fit jet!

HOW TOO FIT JET!

Remove that bolt and the jet is underneath. (you don't have to drain the oil, but a few tablespoons will drain out anyways) Use as big a screwdriver as you can get into the slot of the jet since you don't want to damage the soft brass when un-threading it. Grab the old one with tweezers or something and take it out.

Install the new one and only make it as tight as needed to keep it from un-screwing itself. It's not like the jet is holding anything together, so almost no torque is required. Install the bolt again and torque it to 100 in-lbs. Go ride and make sure it doesn't leak!

The #40 jet (that you just installed) has a larger hole than the #60 that the engine came with. Since more oil is being allowed onto the clutch pack it will lubricate the plates more and erase some little problems (like not being able to find neutral and having the bike creep forward while in gear with the clutch in).

Please keep in mind that a badly-bled clutch master cylinder will cause the same problems, so check that first (since it's free).

hi mate

Initially they were .75 and went to .60 in late 2000 and in 2006 to .40 . As far as i know mate the .40 jet will fit.

.40 fits all years - Smaller hole so less oil in clutch pack. It was too much oil causing the drag.

Liken it to wading in a foot of water and then 2 ft water. 2ft harder because fluid adds drag.

thanks spoonz.... I stand corrected it is indeed a smaller hole. I got the information of the other aprilia forum and assumed it to be right. :rant

Im gonna do this mod soon and will then let you all know the results :thumbup

Just went to buy the jet from the link provided and it will cost MORE to post it than the actual jet itself.....now i know us Scots have a reputation for being tight but this is shocking!! £6 odds postage, bollox to that!! Thought it was a small thing:dunno:eek: Won't order on principle!!!

Can i pick one up from my local Aprilia dealer in Falkirk?? F*cking robbing bastids:rant

AP0268751 - Oil Jet

going on a 99

Phone Nick at rsvr.net and tell him i sent you cos they are so quick. He will have to live up to it then

If Aprilia have it in the Uk or the france deppo chances are you will have it in about 3 days from ordering. Nick will tell you up to a week but it always quicker if it's in stock at Aprilia.

They won't charge you the earth to send it either. My last order was about £2.65 postage.
