Italian bikes,,,,,,,,,,,,in general

Ducati 888... sha-wheeet. I too love all those old bikes. Spent a dollar or two on a beautiful book that listed the history of Ducati and all it's racing bikes... I think I'll spend some of tonight perusing it again.

Keep the tissues handy

I don't want to put any more pics of the SuperSports on and load the hell out of the thread but just look at the clean uncomplicated lines. Thats what bikes should look like imo, not all jagged pointy edges.

What happened to this ?

And this still has to be the mostest beautifull,

Are the best bar none. Especially on the looks and styling front. While I've been mooching around for Cagiva stuff I've been drawn in to a whole new world of ancient Italian classics.
I reckon they were fore runners back in the early 70's. Some of them old Guzzis and Ducatis to name just two obvious ones are beautifull. Of course they were unreliable but so were the Brits. The Japs won that battle I spose, but no way could the Japs design a bike like the Italians. Different mentallity.

So, are we getting a Classic Italian bike thread with pics going ?

My current sweetheart, just look at it. I want one bad. Dead bad.

Am I getting old ?

Nobs I would of killed for a 888, seen it first on screensport winning all the earl WSB racing
I think Doug Polen was the rider.

I have been lucky to own a Ducati 851.(amonst others!)Its a '92 model,so it was last of the 851's with the 888 shape. The next owner killed it by throwing it through a hedge in rural Lincs.
The other bike is a 668 Laverda Diamante. The handling on this bike was incredible,..shame it was let down by the engine.Headlights were strange,....they used to light up the inside of the fairing more than the road ahead.

Whilst we are on the subject of Moto Morini, I was thinking of one of these before I went for the Factory last year, now if you think Aprilia parts & dealers are hard to come by.....

I nearly went for a Corsaro too.The dealer dragged it out of the shop and fired it up,....fook me,..where do I sign?Something in the back of my mind held me back.I looked at the lcd dash and it was like an old NES game system, compared to Playstation 3 on the 'Prilla.I had a scoot around some Morini websites, and they are very unreliable,....and as you say, dealer backup and spares is shocking.
