Fook knows
Are the best bar none. Especially on the looks and styling front. While I've been mooching around for Cagiva stuff I've been drawn in to a whole new world of ancient Italian classics.
I reckon they were fore runners back in the early 70's. Some of them old Guzzis and Ducatis to name just two obvious ones are beautifull. Of course they were unreliable but so were the Brits. The Japs won that battle I spose, but no way could the Japs design a bike like the Italians. Different mentallity.

So, are we getting a Classic Italian bike thread with pics going ?

My current sweetheart, just look at it. I want one bad. Dead bad.

Am I getting old ?

Jist think of them poor old joints and bones. It does look effin great though.

Got to agree there mucker, me mate had one and it wis sex on two wheels. Everything jist looked sooooo effin right and sorted, it's the koolest, greatest piece of production machinery i've ever claped ma eyes on.

As a spotty teen, I lusted after the Moto Guzzi LeMans.

As a returning 35 year old biker I rode one a mate had restored.

What a piece of slow old junk. :)

As an equally spotty teen I had bigtime lust for one of these:

I rode one back "in the day" a mate sold his CB750 and one of his kids to get one.

I had a GS1000 by then, it was the better bike of the two. The Jota was seriously hard work, didn't feckin stop, the crank cases hit the deck way early, fookin fast for the day though.

Yeah, I don't doubt if I ever rode one my illusions would be shattered. Even back in the day when they were a current model the phrase "proper man's bike" translated as "will throw you into the nearest ditch rather than get round a corner". By all accounts you needed hands like a gorilla to use the clutch too.

yeah with you on the whole jota thing, remember the montjuic too ( 500 i think ),also one of my faves, the 1970's ducati 900 ss, in black and gold just awseome...

Liz & I saw one on the ferry to Spain a couple of years ago, it was in really tatty condition, but fair play we saw him several times on the trip to the south coast and he was on the return ferry.

Whilst we are on the subject of Moto Morini, I was thinking of one of these before I went for the Factory last year, now if you think Aprilia parts & dealers are hard to come by.....
