Is this the side stand switch or a duff clutch

When i was going out earlier and puting it in gear (engine about 40c and just off choke), it cut out, i did it twice and kept cutting out, the 3rd time i reved it to about 2grand and put it first again but didnt cut out and away iwent. I've also noticed that quite alot when puting in 1st when out, there's quite a crunch and feels like it jumps forward a bit.

I've got Titec (or whatever they're called) levers and are adjustable via a small lever at the cable, tomorow i'll adjust it 1 click at time and try it, but wondered if this a sign of the side stand switch or a duff clutch.....thanks for any help

Does not sound like sidestand switch to me. Clutch not disengaging properly? Tried bleeding the clutch? How are the slave seals?

Rob :)

Does disengaging mean putting it into gear, if so then yes it's not doing it right especially when cold

It's got the right amount of play ect, I take it need to take the slave off to check them therefore needing to bleed the clutch

When the clutch lever is out the clutch is engaged and the engine is 'connected' to the gearbox. When you pull the lever towards you the clutch is disengaged. It's not like an on/off switch, as you know, but a gradual change from engaged to disengaged. On some bikes I've had (not my Mille) the disengage is not full enough, and although changing gear when riding is generally not a problem it can cause probs when putting it into 1st gear from standing, especially when the engine is cold. There are a number of possible reasons why the disengage does not work fully.

Does that make sense?

Rob :)

Yea means something somewhere's fkd lol

I know what your saying though, I could never remember what round engaged/disengaged meant

It only takes a few minutes to bleed the clutch. could be all thats needed. The clutch slave seals are not great. Mine failed last year and I got similar symptoms to you for a while until, in the end, it was completely f**ked. I replaced it with the Oberon one that makes it a lot easier on the left hand too.

Rob :)

Do you mean you replaced with the Oberon slave or just seals.....I'll try with some adjustments at the lever first and if the same then I'll bleed it

Then again, as it's still under the warranty, should I take it back and get them to do it and tell them what's happening

The seals had gone in my original slave. They are not cheap from what I recall so I decided to replace the whole unit with the Oberon one. If the bike is under warranty then the clutch seals should be covered if they are goosed.

When the seals get really f**ked you will notice the level in the clutch reservoir dropping over a short period (days). There will also be clutch fluid dripping off the bottom of the slave into the bellypan. When the seals don't work well the piston cannot push the rod fully that actuates the clutch so it does not disengage fully.

Rob :)

Sounds like Clutch drag. either it's air in the M/C or you need the updated clutch oil jet. I bet neutral is a pain when it's cold too ?

Ok thanks, will check it or get it checked

Yea I was reading about this other jet, I'll do a couple of things first......it's not bad, I usually click it into 2nd (if it doesnt go in first go) then a soft tap down
