Is this normal?

Since i've owned my bike when i turn on hi beam the bottom low beam light goes out so i just have the top two. I had assumed that one of the filaments in that bulb had gone.
Anyway the bulb finally gave up completely a couple of days ago, and after chaging it today I'm still only getting the top two lights, is this normal.:dunno

Yes it's normal. There is another mod which I did. It's to solder a diode across one the light relays connections. This gives all 3 lights on when switched to main. Details are a bit long but I'll post 'em if you want.
