Is the V4 a mistake.

Yet another V4 spy shot has appeared. I personally don't want a V4, no real reason, I just like my V2 T. I like V twins. Besides the engine change all the spy shots I've seen of the 'new' T it looks awfully small.
One of the things the T has got going for it is that it is a reasonable 2 up tourer. Not ace but I've done hundreds and hundreds of miles with Mrs N on the back and also loaded to the gunnels with camping tackle.
Look at all the new T pics. Where's it all gonna go ? WHERE'S SHE GONNA GO ?
IF thats the way the back end's gonna look and it probably will, thats nailed it for me. NO CHANCE.
I reckon if the new T looks like that ,with the same proportions of the Rsv4, Aprilia are making a massive mistake.
I bet 75-85% of T owners tour on the bike, like I do [weekends away with the lads, bsb,wsb etc] and a good persentage of that take a pillion occasionally.
The engine alone will not be different BUT the whole ethos of T ownership.

:banghead

Saying all this, I'll be keeping my current bike for a good while yet, but I just don't like what I'm seing and hearing.

If you think about it, they're just following the rest of the Italians with hyper performance sit up style nakeds. Think of the new Brtuale with 160bhp, or the Streetfighter with about the same. Neither terribly suited for touring.

They've chosen the same road to go down as the rest of the big Italians.

The Japs are keeping it a little more sensible with mostly 110-120 bhp nakeds. Time will tell which one wins.

I think I agree with you here Nob. The V twin is a cracking motor. I've riden a few VFR's and think they are a tad bland. The twin has soul. As for size, my mrs gets on the back of the T and enjoys it, as does my younger daughter - 22. If its small I reckon sales will drop. A bit sad really

to be fair to aprilia..they are all doing it..triumphs speed triple has got no space on the back now either.

Just a WAG but there have been rumors of a 1200 Shiver. Maybe the V4 T is to be the hyper naked and the 1200 Shiver a more practical bike?

It is true that the publicity blurb at the Shiver launch did say the engine can be enlarged to 1200cc. :dunno

Time will tell.

I had a VFR before the Tuoldo, don't really fancy a V4 again, but it depends what the actual bike looks like and what it is to ride. As I have still only got 38 miles onthe clock of the Factory I will not be changing soon.

I couldn't afford one if I wanted one. Which I don't.

I'm happy with my V twin, I hope it tours well enough when we go to France/Switzerland/Germany this summer, it's got enough performance for me, and I like the way it looks.

Nuff said!

mate...thay have 1 in stock @ rocket center in blackburn .
I sat on it last week , and it feels as small as it looks ...
but it is fairly tall though .
Like you said , no room at the back ! bit of a stunning bike mind u !!

A v4 t ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Me 2. Sat on an Rsv4 last year at the Thundersprint. I said to me mate 'fuggin ell this feels alright for a small bike, I'm avin one'.
He said 'you look a ****, get off'.

i tried one myself at the rocket centre chris, it was realy realy comfy, i could sit on it with both feet firmly on the deck, and it seemed to support my back realy well, there was even room for a coffee in the side.... oh hang on... sorry ..

it was a chair.

I dont find the look of it offensive or owt - quite like it to be honest - but theres no room for the missus' perfectly formed small arse on the back. That said tho - a bike like that calls for riding without the 'anti handling device' on the back.

deffo prefer the v2 but love the thought of a v4 if they gave it a big bang motor for the tuono,it would keep it that bit different and sure be a complete beast, think of the sound:inlove

what you guys think V4 big bang?

shove your v4's up your arse....I wanted a twin, I bought a twin, and I'm gonna continue to ride a twin.....

so they can **** right off with their overpriced, overcomplicated, techno-bollocks...if Aprilia can't provide a decent twin with big slugs, them there are loads that can...

less coffee :yes

I don't like it because it has lost it's individual flair. The V4 looks like all the other newbies out there. Albeit, a tadge up market, or so they say, I think it will not have the growl a V Twin has. It doesn't fit into the naked scene as well as a T but I have to say in some ways it's eye catching.
