Hi All,
Finally got around to adding my profile after using this great site a good few times before.
I bought an ex-demo 2011 Tuono V4R APRC 3 years ago and I love it... sometimes.
It broke down on me when I had not had it long and they replaced the throttle position sensor. There was a recall just after and they assured me that I had the new part. I have since had a number of "Urgent Service" messages. It's been back to the dealers twice and the map was updated and fault cleared. I've bought a USB data cable and have used the fantastic (and free) "Guzzi Diag" software and the fault is always with the throttle posn sensor.
It's not just the "Urgent Service" message, it sometimes lurches just before which can be scary and always goes into "limp home" which is bloody annoying if you're mid overtake.
Last time riding back from the dealers the exhaust valve got stuck and I got "Service" but this cleared itself after a couple of rides. I think they got it ridiculously hot which has appeared to drive the moisture out of the TPS but some seized the valve. They also managed to dull the carbon sleeve and melt some gunk on to my Akra end can, not impressed!
Yesterday, after a good blast home with no troubles I filled up with petrol then after, the APRC system did not self-calibrate on the way home and the amber light stayed on.
Sorry to start with a whinge but I'm thinking of getting shot of it now but... when it's good it's very, very good so part of me would hate to see it go. I've done a few trackdays on it and it's awesome, very easy to go fast compared to the Speed Triple it replaced.
Is this the usual price to pay for owning an Aprilia, the other threads and general stuff on the web would seem to indicate not? Maybe I bought to early in the production run while they were still sorting out issues or maybe it was a Friday afternoon special.
I'd appreciate some honest feedback, good or bad before I throw in the towel.
Cheers me dears,
Paul.:banghead
