is it all worth it?

I now know why aprilia fitted quick release style fairings; because you'll be taking them off very frequently. more water leak. looks like its coming from the thermostat-pump pipe. a dodgy clip? it does like quite corroded. recently had it in garage to have new water pump seal. think mechanic did a poor job re-assembling it perhaps? another slight drip also coming from the bottom of the radiator. not the screw but from one of 'silent blocks', as aprilia call it on their parts list. I sometimes think back with fond memories of opening the garage door to find a spankin zx9r that i knew i could rely on. took that for granted. but the Mille is fantastic to ride. My question is, has anyone ever found this bike reliable or should u expect to encounter problems along the way at some point? cheers.

Have to say that my personal experience with Tuono & Falco - and mate's Falco - is that the lump really is reliable as long as you maintain it and make life easy for the starter and all items associated with lol (including the battery).
His Falco has now done 70k miles. Unless you get a real dog these days - and as long as you look after them - you'll be fine...... having said that I know of a 916 that spontaneously combusted and another one which believe it or not had a habit of starting on its own, the charm of Ducati........

Andy you'll grow to love the prilla,weve all had jap stuff,but wont go back now,we've seen the light,book yourself in with Griff when he comes down my place when on tour & give it a full health check,I ve taken mine on the continent a couple times now & apart from a very small weep from the water pump,I only changed it because we was expecting to do 2k & didnt want it failing & yep I had a ZX9R brand new I dont mind going over it you want ,just not had Griffster's experiance with them

i'll certainly be down your way soon sir. definitely when the slave cylinder turns up if thats cool? a good old health check would put my mind at ease for a while so i can enjoy riding (albeit in the cold!). and i'll also learn a thing or two more about the brute. cheers vinnie

I've had 3 Mille's over the years. I've done over 40000 miles on them. The only thing i've ever had to replace through failure is a battery, a starter solenoid, a headlamp bulb and an Ohlins fork seal.

The problems arise from poor maintenance. These things are pretty reliable if correctly looked after, it's just that some bikes get neglected or crashed which can throw up all sorts of problems as with any bike.

You have to remember your bike is 9 years old and is really a race bike built for the road. They'll need a little more pampering than Japanese bikes but the rewards far outweigh this.

Its my fault, blame me.... one go on me ape and within a month the zx9r was chopped in!! Stick with it, you won't regret it bud! :thumbup
