Is an 01 "R" Haga rep the real deal

What I mean is, according to what I've read on the net, they dont start till about 02-3, is this an R that someone's had painted....it's in the local shop, it's a W with 20,000 seemingly vgc....£3300

w reg early 98-00 shape so completely wrong i'd say its a painted/stickered bike ,should have a blue top yoke with haga's signature and twin akra's

Haga is 02 only as far as I know. Does it have the special top yoke??? and that seems a lot to pay for an 01 RSVR. Someone on here sold a pristine 03 edwards for £4K earlier this month.

Thanks guys.....no didnt have blue yoke or sig, I pointed out to him that I did some checking ect and it wasnt the "real deal", he went to check himself and realised as he thought it was. I also said it should have twin Akras as standard (as you said too redrat).

I had it out today after the rain went off but the rds were to wet to enjoy it, I got some dry'ish rds but not many.....was very nice though, very sure footed ect, the Ohlins and Brembos work well. I noticed that there's no red line as such, but a red warning light after certain revs, I thought it was the oil warning light....is it?

At £3300 he wouldnt budge but instead, offered me £1300 for mine ( 00' X Bandit 12 in vgc but needing front pads and a back tyre), I thought if I went in an waved some cash under his nose plus mine (not the £2000 + mine though)....and take it from that. But if he still wont budge, it's either take it or leave it

Leave it. There's newer and nicer stuff at that price.

Actual rev limit is fixed at 10500. You can set the shift light to your preferred level...http://rsvzone.com/forums/showthrea...-buttun-designations&highlight=dash+functions (it resets to 6000 by default)

Thing is, there's no other Rs near me (Glasgow) and only 2 "ordinary" RSVs (one's gone) and so far what I've saw it's not to bad price wise for it's year/miles, he wants kinda top money yes but I'll ask if there's a fsh or dam near it. It's got 4 months mot but no tax, mine's got a full year (just done on Fiday) and taxed till June so he'd need to do somthing about that.

I know you say dont go for the first, I didnt, there were other 2 but werent Rs, and now that I've saw/rode it (the R) I prefer it....I'll also need to trade mine in and he's offered a reasonable price.....see what happens....maybe nothing

that does seem a little on the high side for a W. I have an 03 rsvr with tons of mods and I reckon it's worth around £3000 as is so I'd leave that one

I paid only £600 more (£3900) for my RSVR on an 06 plate. Came with all the trick bits including lightweight oz wheels, twin Akras etc etc. As said, plenty out there but you need to be willing to travel. I had a 4 hour round trip to get mine.

Really, don't buy it because it's the only one near you that is available now. That is totally the wrong reason. I've been buying cars and bikes for over 30 years. If you are not prepared to travel, or wait, to find what you want then you will not get the best deal/best vehicle. I travelled 200 miles return to get mine, the guy I bought it off travelled > 500 miles when he bought it.

I dont mind travelling and have did it but only for private, I'd need to go miles on the bike everywhere to let them see it to try and get the deals, and some would offer buttons therefore would end up being a waste.....I know what you mean though.

If your buying with cash outright that's diffirent but not (imo) taking a bike everywhere to let them see it and 100s of miles at a time

If you don't need your current bike for daily transport you'll be better off selling it privately rather than trading it in though.

I dont and it's been for sale for 2 months and no takers, well apart from a couple of chancers, infact what I got offered yesterday in trade in local is only 200 less

Not on an RSVR they aint. Walk away at a very brisk pace unless he talks sensible money. You could have bought mine for similar money before xmas and look at my spec. It pisses all over it. Including my single sided swinger and full racelogic dash. Ohlins, 57mm tb, pc3, rearsets, OZ oh and custome paint.
<-----------this one :devious

Obviously only my opinion.

This one had them (brembos) would they have fitted them then if it's not standard, I thought Ohlins and them were standard or Rs...

What's sensible money for it with you guys?

Hard to say without seeing it. I think the Haga stuff is a negative rather than positive thing. Why was it repainted anyway? Does it have good history and hpi? Even an exceptional bike of that model and age is not worth 3300.

As a 'ballpark' figure, I'd say closer to 2300 than 3300. I'm not an expert, I've only ever bought one RSV.

Too expensive mate. I got my Haga rep (rep) 3 yrs ago for £3.2 (2001 Y plate) so that should definitely be less. How good is the Haga scheme too - some are just a hash of stickers and just because its got 'Playstation 2' on it people think its a Haga rep. I'm a little biased but mine has a proper paintjob rather than a sticker kit.

In terms of distance, I wouldn't panic - i did my deal with a dealer in Peterborough which is 220 miles from where I lived in Newcastle at the time. We exchanged photos etc and did the deal over the phone on the basis that my bike was as I said and vice versa. Didn't have any issues and they delivered it to my door. There's loads of companies that will do it, in fact I've only ever bought one bike on my doorstep, every other one as been bought over the web/phone and I've never had a problem. You do have to have the mindset to say no even if they've brought it 400 miles and its not as described and not feel pressured into it.

Hope it helps!

Keep looking mate, travelled to East Sussex from Wiltshire to buy mine ('02 in Original Spec with 7,500 miles) and only paid £2,700.
