Hi All,

The important stuff: 2003 Tuono, red. Lots of goodies been added but still things to do. I'll throw up a pic or two when I get a chance, she's a looker alright.

The bits you can skip: My names Jake, I'm 35 and I live in Melbourne Australia. I found this site just googling around for all things Tuono. I normally post over at AF1 and I'm glad to find another forum to check out. If anyone can tell me where to get my hands on a red Tuono pillion seat hump I'd really like to know - can't find one for love or money.

Hi and welcome deyago. Good to see another boy from Oz on the boards.

Dunno abut your pillion seat hump though mate. What about this unit from AF1 with your own custom paintjob? (don't forget the base unit if you order one).

Thanks Chunkylad. :cheers

I've thought about getting that one but for the price I'd prefer to find one that doesn't need a respray as well. I'm in no hurry so if one ever comes up at the right price I'll grab it. I just don't have much use for the seat - the only girl who wants to get on the back is my Lady's cute little Greek friend and she went and bought a Monster 695 :thumbup

Hi everyone,

My name's Rob and I live in Scotland, UK, home to fantastic biking roads and scenery.

Had mainly sports bikes all my life - I know but it's British addiction fuelled by Bike Mags - but have finally seen the light, or is it me getting old, and bought my first Tuono on 1st Sept 2008.

First impressions are it's basically a sportbike with the fairing ripped off and the handlebars raised - perfect! Love the noise and power delivery of the vee twin, I've had a Diucati 999 and RSV Factory before so I knew what to expect.

I find the manufacturers suspension setting to be a bit hard for the bumpy back roads I mainly ride - anyone got any softer settings they have tried?

Looking forward to being active member and contributing when I can.

If anyone is planning any trips north of the Border, let me know and I will show you some great biking roads!

Cheers
Rob

Hi RBD. Glad to know your name now Rob.

I'm a bit of a lard arse, so I find settings which are a little harsh around town, smooth out as the going gets harder and faster.

Having said that, your Factory's Ohlins suspenders are way better than my Sachs rear end anyway.

Dave

Another FNG here in Los Angeles. The city isn't motorcycle heaven, but the backroads sure are.

Just picked up a 2003 Tuono yesterday. Leo Vince exhaust, CF air scoops and hugger, integrated rear turn signals into tail lights mod, 12,000 miles. Looks good in Magnet gray. This shop also had a 2003 red for $6,300 on consignment. I was looking at them and thinking, and when I heard the price dropped to $4,500 on the gray I had to jump on it. :drool

Extra boxes containing stock muffler, dual exhaust Akropovich full system, throttle body sync tool, and a few other stock bits etc. Nice gift.

It will keep my 98 VFR good company. The CBR954 will be going up for sale. I think I'm gonna like this bike. Wanted one since test riding one at the MC show 3 or 5 years ago.

Gonna take the first ride of over 1 mile shop to home tomorrow AM when the temps are under 90 F. Guessing I'll wonder why I waited so long. :cheers

Welcome Lee.... coooor aint it nice to have to wait till its under 90 deg b4 ya go out, i'm looking out the window and seein flooded roads! yet another day with the T stuck in the shed... bloody weather!

Did you have a gun showing when they said $4,500??? Amazing value! You can't get a T of that vintage for less that Aus$12,000 which is still about $10,000 US.

It's enough to make you cry.:banghead:banghead:banghead:banghead

No guns involved. I got lucky I guess.
Got a first ride in today, and I LOVE THIS BIKE! :doug

Did 265 miles, not much freeway. Out through Moorpark, Santa Paula and breakfast at the Deer Lodge in Ojai.
Up and over Hwy 33, Cerro Noroeste to Frazier park, then down through the desert to the Rock Inn.
Spunky Cyn, Boquet, and Little TJ rounded off the trip.

It only took a few miles to get comfortable with the handling, and we got buzzing along pretty good through the twisties. It's lighter than the VFR, you sit up straight and comfortable with a nice wide bar. I think the riding position is even more comfortable than the VFR, the stock seat is fine. The CBR954 is getting sold for sure.

Tuono goes right where I want to go and tracks right over the rough stuff, no drama. Well a tiny bit passing a car hard on it, ran over reflectors in the middle of the road and the bars wiggled a bit. So I got off the reflectors. :dunno

The Rotax engine has a lot of torque and just RIPS. :cheers

I never had a V twin before, and only rode an HD 883 once for a few miles 20 years ago, so no comparison. I ran it up to about 10k in maybe 3rd or 4th? a couple times. Eeeeh hah! Haven't tried any rapid starts yet. Gotta program the shift light higher than 6k.

Brakes do the reverse job nicely. Need to adjust and maybe bleed the rear. Works, but long travel / long push on the pedal. I honked the horn a lot since it's where I expect the turn signal to be. Thumb will have to get used to aiming a little lower on this bike.

So to summarize. Who says a sport bike has to be a torture rack? THUNDER! :roost

Sure is! We get rogered badly on thing like that. Small population on a big island, middle of nowhere = pay up or miss out. (my simplistic economic rationale of supply v's demand)

Glad you really like your Tuono. I am yet to hear ANYONE bag their T after their first rides. It speaks for itself. It is a truly great motorcycle.

Welcome to the T Zone, my friend.

Another Tuono newbie

s'pose I ought to say hello :thumbup

Having lusted after Aprilia's for so long without actually buying one I decided it was fnally time to move away from the various sterile in-line jap 4's and BM's (yeah, I know) and go for something with a bit of character.... OMFG, this is one beast of a motorcycle :eek

This is my first V twin and it's going to take a while to master before I can cover ground as swiftly as the Fazer thou I had before. But master it I will, oh yes :D

Cheers

Adam

Oh yes you will Adam yes you will.....in very short time you wont believe how slow your Fazer was or is..... the T is a time bomb waiting for you to pull the trigger

Will order the 2ct next time as you cannot get them here right now... bugger.. mate has metzler 2ct's on his Griso and loves them... cheers

It still puts the biggest grin on my dial when I wick it up at around 150-170 kmh and the front gets light. It blows me away every time.:wheelie

I've been thinking about the new B'stone BT016 as replacements for my OEM Metzlers. Anyone tried them yet?:dunno
