Here is a letter ( in full) as printed in the current issue of the CSMA club magazine... i welcome all your comments:
As a car driver,I am aware of the significant safety features that have been made compulsory over the years such as airbags, seatbelts, crumple zones and laminated windscreens etc.I know that due to these changes crashes become more survivable and I have been happy to pay the subsequent cost to protect my life and that of pedestrians. But what about motorcycles?
Last year, of the 2538 (a record low) people killed on the uk roads, 493 were motorcyclists.I have no idea of the ratio of four wheeled vehicles to two wheelers, but I don't see every one in five vehicles on the roads being a two wheeler.
Car drivers have accepted that they have to incur greater costs to increase safety.Isn't it time motorcyclists accept that their vehicles should face radical redesign with the consequent cost implications-just like car drivers have had to do-to reduce the appalling death rate among them and to protect other road users?

Words fail me!...that was awarded star letter rather worryingly :crazy
