New race teams seem to be flocking to the 2010 MotoGP season. First it was Italian hopeful FB Corse, and now Spanish Inmotec has joined the fray with their own MotoGP bid. With their official launch to come at the Valencian GP, Inmotec hopes to enter their 800cc prototype racer, the the Inmotec GPI 10, with success against not only the other privateer teams, but against the factory squads as well. Inmotec Consultora Técnica, a Spanish company which currently backs the Inerzia-Inmotec team in the Spanish national championship (CEV Buckler), has its eyes on the premiere racing class after a successful season in the Spanish Nation Championship Extreme category with Iván Silva riding their Kawasaki ZX-10R.
With a group of engineers and designers managed by Oscar Gorría, the Pamplona, Navarra (northern Spain)*based team has resumes that include members from the former Team Roberts, Freddie Spencer, Randy Mamola and Max Biaggi MotoGP campaigns. No word on configuration or power figures, but speaking about his experience with the Inmotec GPI 10 on a private track in Navarra, team rider Silva said the following about the bike:

“In terms of the engine the bike has shown itself to be highly powerful and it is quite easy to ride, especially considering it has not yet reached its full potential. The frame is really stable and the bike is fast on changes of direction, it’s agile and rigid. I can’t wait to get back on the machine again and push it even closer to the limit at the next test, just to see how it responds.”
Could privateer racing be where it’s at for extra on track action in 2010, or will we see these teams get further eclipsed by factory backed teams and pseudo-satellite squads? Only time will tell.
