indicar and brake light letting water in

Hi all,

Got an '08 Tuono in black (nice black one!) Anyway, the rear indicators and brake light let loads of water in. They don't seal against the fairing at all. I use bike in all weather's so I'm worried grit will get in the gaps and chew all kinds of stuff up.
Before i go mad with silicone, does anyone have better ideas?
Thanks in advance!
Liam.

Nope,mine does just the same.
I would'nt fire too much silicone in there,....you might want to change the indicator bulbs sometime.

Yeah just took my lenses off last time I cleaned the bike to clean all the crap out from behind them, as Keith says, easy on the silicone cos it's a bugger to get off if you need a bulb change! I also had to take the front off the clock cos it was misting up worse than usual, must have got damp in on Monday when I got caught out in the rain, seems better now. The dash is sealed with a sort of thin adhesive strip (which obviously doesn't seal!) but there was nothing around the indicator lenses.

Not sure if anyones thought of this but why not take indicator lenses off and rear brake light and silicone a neat line around the lens. Allow to dry off the bike and then reattach the lens once dry. That way you'll still be able to get the lenses off. It won't be 100% waterproof but it'll stop the crap like dirt getting in.

Other than that get aftermarket indicators. Nowt you can do about the rear light though.

Just a suggestion as might be summat I'd try if I was having a problem

Couldn't come and board my attic & fit a ladder could you? I'l give you a tenner......;)

I'm far too lazy for that. And probably no as I'm **** with stuff like that.

Do not put sealant anywhere around the indicators/tail light.
You will never prevent water getting in, so it's pretty important you enable it to get out.
Besides, firstly, they all do that sir. And secondly, apart from the chrome in the indicators marking, it doesn't do any harm.

a lot of people tell me that in my job bay then i see what they have done and just smile to my self and say I, you do get the odd DIYER thats good but not many sounds if you are **** hot though bay:beer2

****** mate I don't know about **** hot but I read up on stuff plus I'm doing a carpentry course in my own time. What do u do anyway

building trade all my working life i'm self employed me and my buisness partner i'm a joiner by trade and he's a bricklayer we do anything to do with the building trade most of the work we do is extensions, barn conversions, attic conversions etc.

thanks for the replies - I wasn't going to use Roofers Mate or nowt, just wondered if i was missing something. Its not the water that concerns, its the grit rubbing away.
Either way, job's meant i haven't been using it much.:rolleyes
