I thought it’s time for me to share my Lilly observations for anyone lurking to buy her. Well I’ve had Japs (4)’s before last one being Honda CBR 600 Ultima Light. I always wanted Lilly but prices were quite steep. My friend bought one and within 3 months swapped it for a new Honda. They just didn’t get along. I was confused but still I’ve decided I am getting to old for an 180bhp road missile and that I ought to try something different. So, I finally took the plunge – see photo. Initially I was all confused. I thought this won’t cut it for me. Incomparable to my 600 Honda; heavier, rougher, yes great torque but slow corners bloody unmanageable, jerky first gear, hard to slot into neutral, wrist and neck killing ridding position, quite thirsty, rear brake (what rear brake) and manual clutch bleeds. Jesus what have I bought I thought. However, month into ownership, and I am all in love. So bloody stable at high speed corners, awesome grip, awesome brakes, had her to 172mph indicated and she ran like a dream. I got used to sitting position and the spitfire engine character is really something special. Before I was thinking; GSXR 1K, R1, the new CBR 1K but this Italian bike has now crawled under my skin, utterly. I will replace clutch cylinder and carry out rear brake modification but I have to admit, I am really falling in love with this bike. September 20, 2009 I am taking her to the track and I have this feeling, she will shave quite a few seconds of my record lap times. In conclusion, my advice to any purchaser is; give this bike a little time. It’s not this catchy number 1 hit song which you like straight away but then quickly get bored of it. Lilly is this awesome album, which at the beginning you aren’t sure about, but then slowly it grows on you and then you simply stop listening to anything else for a while. Great bike, enough said.
