anyone had any dealings with the aprilia alarm unit, any good. any one recomend engine imobiliser system only without alarm. just another quick question, having never had a bike with dry sump oil resevior do you check it running or off.

Should do at least 5-10 miles before checking oil...revving the **** off it on the drive apparently isn't enough:devious

I've always done that but always wondered why you have to do that :dunno, so different from inline 4's where you just check the level cold :confused

Welcome Hero, your standard factory fit Aprilia immobilizer is, as far as i'm aware, enough to satisfy any insurance company's requirements so any additional alarm / immobilizer such as Datatool System 3 or Meta 357T V2, is for your piece of mind. With regard to checking your oil level you need to check as follows as the engine has a dry sump oil lubrication system

1. Ride the bike for about 10 mins or 5 to 6 miles to ensure the engine has reached full operating temperature.
2. Stop the bike in a safe place on level ground and switch off the engine.
3. Holding the bike upright, immediately check the oil level in the oil sight tube behind the left hand middle fairing panel. The level should be no more than 1/2 to 2/3 up the sight tube. Any more and oil will be drawn up into the airbox. If low top up as necessary bearing in mind that from the min level to the max level is only 1/2 litre

Thanks

many thanks for all your help. decided to go with the meta 357t v2 fitted at pdi. thanks also regards checking oil level.
much appriciated.:thumbup
