Maybe i need to go past and pick them up. maybe i just need to learn from scratch again! anyone else in the same boat? still love the millie!!!

LOL I'm rubbish too.

But isn't the practice part so much fun, especially with a V Twin under you?

Just take it at your own pace mate. You might want to try one of the local Bikesafe courses and maybe something like California Superbike School. CSS gives you plenty of time to practice stuff like getting the bike turned without having to worry about traffic or any other distractions. I found it really improved my riding on both road and track.

sure it will come flooding back with some time and patience. I'll not bother riding with my old mate till it does come back, best be safe than be out of my comfortzone

It's hard to find the confidence after a big off or an accident - reminds us that we are mortal, doesn't it?

I have never been able to ride like I used to and it frustrates me to death.

searching for a steering damper. used to rely on it all the time. i was on really bumpy roads just dreading a slapper. keep getting out bid though on ebay. cheapskate!
Used to find it frustrating enough on the first few rides after winter, but atleast i got onto a familiar bike even if it was a firestorm

Mate, my Mille shows the usual four rings on the fork tops and I've never felt the need for a steering damper - even with the roads round here which make the moon look smooth. They's stable old beasts.

That is true, after purchasing the mille one of the first things i wanted to buy was a steeling damper though after riding her for a bit i felt it wasnt a must!

They do handle well, ive had tank slap on a few bikes but not this one so far, touch wood :dowhat

pull that throttle back alittle further, you'll start to get use to the front wheel floating, no need to cover the back brake either lol.

Come out with me ....you'll think your Rossi then :laugh

Just take it easy for a while and confidence will build with time.

Feel for you....in a similar boat after an unscheduled date with the tarmac last year. I know the bike can do it & I know I can...BUT the olde self preservation switch kicks in and messes with your head....TIME is all that's needed. Hope you get back up to 'speed' without too much anxiety!

Whatever you do just dont push it to soon! Like others have said take it easy, it will most certainly come flooding back in time!

Go out on your own to roads you know well, spend a few hours going back and forth (same road) you will soon build your confidence back.

Ride safe :thumbup

Unlucky matey - just feel your way at this time of year. Too many people have just a winter off, and end up binning it in the early Spring hence why ebay parts are so expensive at this time of year!

Just feel your way back.

Wednesday was the first properish ride I've had on my Mille since I bought it in November, after my previous Mille was written off last year - I haven't felt as comfortable on this one so far with Ohlins forks stiffer etc., but it began to come together!

Take it easy, and a BikeSafe course may be useful - they are usually running them free at open days around this time of year?

took mine for the mot yesterday first time out since september, passed test went for a ride not saying im rubbish but definatley need bike time, going through wakefield wrong gear wrists killing me, back aching, darn't lean it too far over , feathering clutch on roundabouts nightmare!!!!!!!!!!! what am i doing ? Then out on to the open roads what a relief ! i suddenley remembered why i bought one got the flow going a bit still hesitating but enjoying riding, hooked air box trying to suck blue **** and other small animals in.
On to some fast sections black posin visor down cum on!! comin up to a roundabout felt good and fast, too fast 110mph FECKINHELL !!!!!! on the anchors , bangin it down through the box no good, nowt comin thank god onto the roundabout darnt lean over just managed to straight line it more or less ,out the other side in one piece . christ !! pulled up quick check to see if any one watchin all clear steady ride home. come to think of it im rubbish .

Know the feelin mate, I had an off when I was 21 wrapped myself round a lampost at 70mph, was very lucky to survive let aone walk again. HAd 1 1/2yrs off, but only cos I still had to pay the bike off, took me ages to get the confidence back, wors bit was gettin the knee down where I came off originally, done it eventually after almost repeating the same crash! But I've never reached the level I was at before the crash, and thats not such a bad thing. Best thing to do, get yaself on a trackday, get ya speed up without having to worry about cars, stone walls, lamposts etc, and that will start you off on the road to recovery. Good luck.

Pull the throttle right back, close yer eyes and hope for the best, usually works for me!
Seriously just take it easy fella, before you know it you'll be feeling right at home on the beasty :thumbup

I tell you mate, 30 years of couriering, riding in Asia, on the continent, etc, and I thought I knew it all. Then last year I did a Bikesafe course, CSS and some track days and now I'm (relatively) faster, smoother, safer (touchwood!) and more confident than I've ever been. Opening your mind to a bit of instruction rather than trying to do it all yourself will make things a lot easier with much more rewarding results.

I'll second ( or is that THIRD ?) the 2 posts above.

I recently took the SV round the corner for MOT and went straight back home after, it felt really strange riding again, kept forgetting to look in the mirrors I was concentrating so hard.

I've only been riding a Mille for 10 days now, previous to that last rode my SV1000s properly on a track day in Oct last year.

Best thing I did last month was book a track day for getting back in the swing of things, pity I ended up on the SV in a group full of ACU license holders sorting out their rides. :dunno

Yup, I'm rubbish as well ! Thing is, take it at your own pace until you get back current again.
