well afetr reading the haynes from back to front and front to back, i thought i would have a go at checking the valve clearances, just to settle any worry's there, not to bad of a job bar the bolt thats to the far front of the front pot, ( there must be a tool to make this easier) what a tw@t, any way tollerances were spot on and both pots had same spec. my only concern is that on tick over the tapping is a little exessive to me, throttle on and its gone , not exaggerated at all, bit of a flicker on the oil light on tickover, but the slightest touch of the throttle and its out, bike runs great ,powercomander fitted and akro, 10,000 miles showing (or there abouts ) any ideas cheers glen

yes mate no worries its sounds like th tappin you speak of could be the symptoms of a fault cam chain tensioner no uncommon mate not expensive either....
You need to whip them valve covers off on whichever clinder is making the noise and check out weather you can physicall move the tensioner blade its shouldnt move hardly at all as the hydraulic pressure should hold it under tension........simple check and swop mate ...luurrvely!!whos a lucky boy then!!!

nice and simple them ones mate hopefully!!

let us know how you get on!!

Cheers
Griffer!

the oil light light flicker is a duff oil pressure switch 9 times out of ten ...bout 10 quid for a new switch and bout 25 seconds to change.....there just pretty poor switches fitted on these motors ..not uncommon again!!

so am i checking both, the blades and the hydrolic tensioner as the book talks of them both seperately , the tensioner looks an easier jobby than the blades, (i think anyway :roll) cheers glen
