Trying to find spares but they dont seem to be listed anywhere any more, they dont seem to be correct for the RSV-R variant though ?

They don't look like the Ohlins on my 2000 RSVR, are you sure they aren't the standard Showa forks?

If i remember correctly the type of the fork is stamped to the bracket holding the brake caliber.

the ohlins forks have a serial number stamped on the fork foot - ask for a pic of the foot and if its not ally then its re-anodised showa's (they are black cast). You can't tell from a pic of the top.

From the photo's kiwi, the fork caps and adjusters appear to be Showa.

Ohlins forks are 51mm diameter, Showa are 53mm

I didnt think Showa's came in gold ?, the bottoms are coloured silver gray and have Ohlins stickers (that dont mean too much tho).

Ohlins tubes with Showa internals ??

Does this help ?

Kiwi, for reference here's 2 photo's of my 2002 RSVR Ohlins. Your fork bottoms look to be RSV Mille Showa's

Kiwi, my opinion is that they are reworked showas - the fork bottom looks like its been cleaned up to that colour or powder coated that colour, then they've had the tubes NiTri'd and the stantions re-anodised. I'm pretty sure showa tubes and ohlins stantions are not compatible or vice versa(diametres are different). I stand to be corrected though.

Cheers Guy's , not sure where to go next or what else i'll find that's been *******ised.

Guess I need to look at Showa for spare parts then ?

I tell you what if ever I come across the previous owner I'm gonna break his nose !!, oh and never ever buy anything from those tossers at Viva Moto :jack

The later Showa's on the Falco's came in gold. This was jsut before Aprilia switched to marzocchi forks.

So this could very well be an OEM gold showa

If the forks were quality reworked it doesnt have to be a bad thing, athough showas are harder to adjust(have less fine-tunning options), but if the previous owner also changed the internals you will get the same forks or better than ohlins oem and you get cheaper maintnance.

I need to positively identify them so as I can get some springs and replace the damaged adjusters.........................but as with everything on this pissing bike its not straightforward :jack

As said im quite sure they are the later gold colored showa's.

It hink this means you can use parts from one of the many sets of black showa forks for sale on ebay regularly.

The ones in the link BTW are for 40mm brake claiper mounting point. The showa's and ohlins are 60mm

measure the fork uppers - Ohlins are 51mm and Showas 53mm I think ?! (but deffo bigger than ohlins. You going for uprated springs? fork caps looked ok?!

Now if those are as I suspect re-worked showas then I reckon whoever did that would've put aftermarket springs in as well (TiNi coating is about 150 notes to get it done and anodizing probably 100notes) I reckon he's spent some money on the forks.

As said im quite sure they are the later gold colored showa's.

the falco ones will be a much lighter gold matey and they don't have TiNi coating on the tubes.
