the ohlins forks have a serial number stamped on the fork foot - ask for a pic of the foot and if its not ally then its re-anodised showa's (they are black cast). You can't tell from a pic of the top.
Kiwi, my opinion is that they are reworked showas - the fork bottom looks like its been cleaned up to that colour or powder coated that colour, then they've had the tubes NiTri'd and the stantions re-anodised. I'm pretty sure showa tubes and ohlins stantions are not compatible or vice versa(diametres are different). I stand to be corrected though.
Cheers Guy's , not sure where to go next or what else i'll find that's been *******ised.
Guess I need to look at Showa for spare parts then ?
I tell you what if ever I come across the previous owner I'm gonna break his nose !!, oh and never ever buy anything from those tossers at Viva Moto :jack
If the forks were quality reworked it doesnt have to be a bad thing, athough showas are harder to adjust(have less fine-tunning options), but if the previous owner also changed the internals you will get the same forks or better than ohlins oem and you get cheaper maintnance.
I need to positively identify them so as I can get some springs and replace the damaged adjusters.........................but as with everything on this pissing bike its not straightforward :jack
measure the fork uppers - Ohlins are 51mm and Showas 53mm I think ?! (but deffo bigger than ohlins. You going for uprated springs? fork caps looked ok?!
Now if those are as I suspect re-worked showas then I reckon whoever did that would've put aftermarket springs in as well (TiNi coating is about 150 notes to get it done and anodizing probably 100notes) I reckon he's spent some money on the forks.
