After taking the starter off the bike I tested for continuity across the two small contact pins on the relay and confirmed that there was continuity. (Think this explains the fault) I take it that this confirms the relay is shagged?
Don't spose anyone has a new one they haven't put on yet they could test for me could they? Just need to confirm that a good relay has no continuity across the two small contacts. You could try the same Mikey as I believe we are in the same boat buddy:thumbup

Mikey before it goes on test across the ignition switch pins for continuity for me bud. Not the big terminals, the small pins for the connector block. Cheers mate. I know if mine is ****** then. Also can you give me the part number for the Yamaha relay? Cheers, Tim:thumbup

just picked up the magical relay. going on tonight woo hoo. watch this space. doing stickers aswell tomorrow. i will post a pic up when its up and running.

sorry you lost me at the continuity????? how do i test it pal. the part number 4kd81940-00 and its a yamaha part. about £29 mate. let me know how to test it and i will.

If you don't have a tester then it's no worries mate:thumbup Stick it on and get that bike fired up:thumbup

just doing it now but no tester mate. If it works then you'll know it's same problem as mine. Hopefully

just put it on and think it works. Bike seams to turn over but I think with all the turning of the key and the fuel pump coming on all time I think I have no juice left the ****!!!!!!! Absolutly gutted. The reley works a charm though and I've put the optimate 4 on aswell, so hopefully no more problems with the battery. Gunna fill my Gerry can up tomorrow and hopefully we'll be on back wheel by tea

hi guys, thanks everyone for your help i have done it thanks to you guys. it wouldnt start this morning but think i bloody flooded it again (have to get used to this leaving the throttle alone on starting business) went back to it this afternoon and started first time. chuft to bits. that was 3pm and just got in now. havent really had chance to ride it since i bought it 4 weeks ago but loved every minute of it. thought it would be harder to ride than my previous bike (yammy thundercat) but it isnt. its a dream. cant wait till i can get out again. thanks again guys

That's good news mate, have fun but watch out for that snow that's coming.

St. Helens hey!!! I used to live near to Haresfinch Park many years ago, used to love screaming up and down the East Lancs Road.

Yeah, know that area well, lived in Barwell Avenue for 8 years.

I miss the good old East Lancs Road, used to hang around the greasy spoon (Cafe) opposite Carr Mill Dam and also the bikers used to meet up outside Chain Lane shops.

Ahhh! The good old days.

Oh yes, I live on bramcote avenue. Just off bosworth road. Barwell is just around the corner. That cafe is not there anymore. The building is still there but cafe shut. It's been a car wash since. They was on about knocking it down and putting a mc donalds there. And they have reduced the speed limit on the east lancs to 60mph not that it matters hahaha.
