Hey guys

I do love my RSV, even the Ducati 1098 or even moreso the white 848 take my fancy.

But tell me if this is just not spectacular

EBAY Item number: 320383235665

I just drooled on the keyboard again......dammit :devious

I love the SP2 and would possibly buy one but heard alot of issues with it ie fuelling etc.etc plus they are overpriced in my book.

They are great bikes but having seen one recently in a dealer it did look to have aged in the flesh design wise.
I think the RSV has held up well and looks pretty modern still but the SP just looked a bit out of date in the flesh imo.

They have a horrendous tank range on them also and felt very small for me to sit on. Pretty wide for a twin also because of the side mounted rads.

If it rocks your boat though then that's what counts and being a Honda if you can overlook the slightly iffy on/off fueling it will likely be reliable.

Defintely a little smallish, especially compared to the RSV, and for sure not as good as the prilla as a road bike.

BUT this one with the full ohlins etc .................. :coocoo

I have a suspicion that the price may go considerably higher but yes you would struggle to find a better one.

May have seen a lot of track action though. Can't beleive all that trickery was purely for a blast out with his mates.

Hows the 848 going Colin?

Any probs or issues?

Any things that you have to look out for?

My brother in law has an SP2, and I very nearly bought one myself. I like them alot, but agree with areessmill in that they are a little over priced. That said they were an expensive bike to buy new and they also won the WSB Championship with Mr Edward's.

No issues other than clocks misting which i think i have sorted.

lost a few bolts until i loctited them but that's just a twin thing.

Cant be a bystander on this one !

Last nights ride out

The story.

BADBOYS bike if of the road at the moment due to a fault with his forks ie there broken. Anyway if you ever seen a bad-boy that is bike-less its not very pleasant ( Resembles a bulldog chewing a wasp sought of look )

So we checked out insurance ect. I lent him my Rsvr and i took out my brothers SP1 . We meet up with SMIFFY & SPANNER, the normal Friday night group and also x4 others guys great group. SPANNER Took the RC8 and the others had x1 RSVR 2003 X1 gsxr 6000 2009 x1 CBR 600 RR 2007 and Jim had just bought a 2003 BLADE.( So that's 8 bikes a clear dry night and a lot of fun )
Any way the SP1 . Its a 2000/2001 Sits in my garage all the time . Didn't have tax until fitted 5 min b4 setting off covered in dust and cobwebs not on a optimate , had not been started for at least 6 weeks and covered only 400 miles in the last year. Its got 4500 miles from new clocked up and is totally standard. ( Started first time on the button )

Now size wise ( A we bit smaller, seem to sit on it instead of in it )
However its not a uncomfortable sitting position.

That said the Suspension is very unforgiving rock hard. But on a smooth road handles sweetly very nice. Only thing i didn't like was under hard breaking needs something adjusted on the front end i think.

Breaks are very very strong :thumbup

The fueling . Yea i know its been knocked for fueling. But the mille is not great in town not really meant for that is it . That said the power is very linear and predicable very smooth all the way to the red line in all gears.

No doubt as with the mille a slight sprocket change and PC3 would sought out the town work !!

Looks wise i think it looks fresher than my 02 mille r ( Looks similar to a late rsvr twin lights and all )

Over all i liked it not sure if i prefer i don't i think :dunno ( But the noise is in a different league ) :inlove

weird front end imo

so far te 848 is the best bike I've ridden on the road bar none - gave me tons of confidence, watch ya don't lose yer license

danglee :thumbup

SP2, There Fantastic, you get Pucker HRC decals, they dont make as much power as you may imagine but they oooooozzzzeeeeee Quality...

The early SP1's were a bit iffy on throttle but a small price to pay... There gonna make as good an investment as you can get by buying a bike.

I wanted one and looked for 6 months prior to getting my RSV but they were either thrashed or too expensive.

I think if you like RSV,s you will LOVE the SP2 :)

well out with hooked(craig) on his brothers sp1 and i have to say sounds awsome a total different thump to the mille alot deeper obviously before people say its the angle of the v dont bother!i know:lol
but for me that is where the story ends the mille's looks have stood the test of time and the sp's with its 1980's back lights and cb 500 indicators and for me dated looks (i know some people will dis agree but this is my own opinion if you took the cans off it would look terrible the cans make the sp). the sp's have never been a good bike iffy fueling , dodgy handling, low tank range and 120bhp (never been quick) but speaking to craig he loved every minute on it and at the end of the day thats what counts with any bike the guy who rides it!:thumbup
p.s this isn't a dig craig you know my feelings on the sp like i know your feelings on the rc8:thumbup and it was a good ride and you need to come out more!

Spanner mate i agree with all of this. However the rear lights indicators ect even the fueling can all be sorted. How many mille,s stay standard, look at yours mine and smiffys they have all been sorted. Different indicators tail tidy rear lights changed. Gearing and power commander sorted.
As for the RC8 ive don't think Ive ever slated that one mate. Its growing on me every time im looking at the back of it :biggrin

And not dig taken spanwar :exclamation

totally agree mate in what you are saying i'm sure every sp owner does sort it all out and at the end of the day it is a honda(fooking reliable)no trickle chargers needed:lol
and i'm sure the sp owners club won't be inviting me to their christmas function:lol
did see one like your bro's down the rounders today though it was you on it again:devious

Youve been making the best of your freedom then.
