How to tell an RSV - R

Hi Guys,

How do you know if you have a genuine RSV R ('98 - '03). I know the obvious bolt-ons (Ohlins suspension and steering damper, Oz wheels, carbon fibre mud guards etc), but are there any other pointers?

I've seen a few "RSV - R's" with the pillion seat. But I thought the R only had a single sub frame?

Was this just the early ones 98-00 that were solo?

I have an 03 black framed rsv r that has a pillion seat, lifes much better with it I reckon!

Apparently the pillion seat became an option around 2002 for the RSV - R, many later bikes do seem to have it.

Another difference between the Mille and the R appears to be the addition of a stainless steel oil catch tank instead of the standard plastic one.
