Hi guys

I need to drop the bottom yoke out but dont know the best way to go about it. One of the lock stop bolt heads sheered off in the yoke after a spill, i have tried removing the bolt with yokes left in but its too difficult to get at and i was making a hash of it.

Previously when adjusting the forks i have used straps on the garage roof around the top yoke but cant do that as the yoke obviously needs to be removed.

Any ideas would be appreciated - cheers in advance

I normally put an axel stand or car jack under the engine at the front. Where the front downpipe joins the main collector part there is a spring, I remove this spring and put the axel stand right where the spring would have been. I normally put a block of wood over the axel stand or jack too.

If you want to use the straps you could maybe take the tank and airbox off and use the holes in the frame for the ram air ducts. You might be able to tie a strap around the main arm of the front nosecone/clock stay but I don't know how strong this would be.

I put a ratchet strap around behind the steering head, between the tank and the yokes making sure i didnt trap any wires then lifted it from the garage roof like you do. I also had the rear on a paddock stand.
I had no fairings on at the time and i was able to take the forks and yokes off no problem.

Thanks for the tips so far, i will test them and see which feels most secure, just got to find a hex key to fit the top yoke nut now.

I searched for a bolt with a head that fitted in the top yoke nut, put it in upside down and used a monkey wrench on the threaded end. Worked well and caused no damage. :thumbup
