Hot starting.

My RSV Mille R 2001 always starts first time from cold (unusual I know - but true!). However when hot it sometimes is difficult to start (not everytime though). So what am I doing wrong. Is there a knack to it (like when cold starting ,ie no throttle, full cold start lever, hit button always works for me when cold ) ? How do you start yours from hot? On most of my bikes its been a small amount of throttle then hit the button. Does not always work on the RSV though.

I look forward to your ideas.
Cheers. Dean

Mine is the same normally have to give mine a little and then hold it about 2 for about 2 seconds or it stalls !!

I always use the cold lever, even when hot. 28k miles using the bike every day and counting!! Just apply a little bit of cold lever when firing up the bike hot.

When I had a Gabro race chip in mine it was the same, then I tried a Dr Rossi chip & now it runs smoother & starts easier,& yes I set the TB's each time

Yeah, use your cold start all the time mate, DEFO NO THROTTLE as you'll kill your sprag.

If it's not firing up when hot using about 40% of the cold start lever movement then you have either an air leak, mixture issues, the throttle bodies need balancing or the chip you have fitted is rubbish.
