According to the official manual, there are dire consequences if hose-clips are re-used, or replaced with conventional Jubilee-type hose clips. New genunie hoseclips must be used every time a hose is disconnected.

Is this actually the case, or just 'marketing'?

I read all that before but have ran worm driven hose clamps for years. Recently I have returned to the crimp style because they are cleaner, lighter and work better around small dia hoses.
I suffered no dire consequences!

Thanks for that Rev.

I won't sweat worrying now that, somewhere on my bike, there's a hose that's about to blow.

Where they are out of sight, I used standard fuel pipe clips with new 1/4 inch fuel line when fitting a fuel filter recently. The auto factor measured the external diameter of the pipe I was buying and supplied clips to suit. These are the worm driven type rather than 'jubilee clips' and can be bought in size increments of 1mm. Where hoses are visible, such as those running from clutch/brake reservoirs, I have reused the OE spring clips without problems either but am now replacing any corroded clips with new double spring clips matching the OE originals. I found mine on Ebay and bought some shiny ones manufactured Mikalor. Don't know how the finish will stand up yet.
