hi all am quite new to aprilia's and the rsv mille and with this weather been on it about 3 times in 3 months !!!!! am looking to do some modding slip on can, air filter, getting it to start !!! but could some one explain to me about the hooked airbox and how its better than standard pic's would be awesome

cheers Fitz

Hi Fitz, have a look here hooked airkit there's a link to photo,s on page two :thumbup

It's to improve mid range performance, but thats not the reason i bought one, it was for the induction sound i was after when you give it the beans :devious

Fantastic quality and well worth the money :thumbup

this kit will give you at least 5-6 bhp...cheapest bang per buck mod you can make...as above the noise is unreal and addictivel...go buy one you wont regret it

the standard airbox is a sealed unit ...sucking air in from the tubes that run to the front of the bike...the hooked is an open airbox which means the filter is not encased in a sealed box(?) if that makes sense look at the link above should explain it ..there other ways to modify the airbox....you can dump the lid and get a seal that bolts on the bottom of the tank now becomes the airbox lid and increases the airbox volume and hence more power but these are more for top-end power

if you hear of a renegade box the hooked is basically an updated better version of it:thumbup

I have 1 fitted on my 06 and its sounds good, gave mine no real bhp increase but alot smoother. For the money its worth it.

really?...mine was so much cleaner off the bottom of the rev range ...just wanted to come up by its self....def had a power increase

Its the dog nuts, simple.

Smoother more responsive midrange,
The only downside is that the noise when you open it up from about 4k is so adicitive its gonna get me into trouble one day.

Yes mate I got mine dynod after fitting it and between akra slipons, standard box and MAP2 compared to a full system, hooked and custom map was 2bhp max power. Up the rev range I gain a few here and there as well.

cheers for the help guys, makes sense now think when i get some spare cash i'll defo invest in 1 of these

thanks again fitz

Hi Iv recently bought a 99 model mille first v twin I want to do a open airbox mod does any one no if there is anywhere that even still makes these these any more or do I have to try make something myself

You have a few choices

Track a renegade/hooked/sebimoto version down they are basically the same

Or buy an evo airbox from forza aprilia (google it)

Or make your own
