High tickover speed

Hi,

A few electrical gremlins but bike now starting ok. I cleaned and silicon greased as many connections as I could while I had the fairings off and tank propped ip. Starts OK but ticks over at about 3 thou. Any ideas why or how to adjust?

Thanks,
Ian

How old is the bike? Gen1 or 2?
Possibly trapped or badly routed a throttle cable when putting plastics back, it's easy done.
Early gen1 and late gen1 have different adjusters. Do you have a knurled knob under the RHS of the tank? If not it'll be a screw adjust.

Sorry, should have said. 2004 RSV1000 RR so Gen2 (not Mille) fuel injected. Will check out the cables and if knurled knob. Where would screw adjust be?

In that case I think the idle speed adjuster is on the rear LH corner of the airbox. Tickover should be 2000 +-100 rpm (again, I think as mine is a gen1!)
Tickover should be checked when the bike is good and warm.
Someone far more knowledgeable than me will soon come to your rescue!
