high fuel consumption

ok i see that Rico, so would you change the bike because of this? or are you spoting mechanical problems early?

checkin yer mileage noo an again can sometime tell ye some thing is mibbe amiss wi yer fuellin or engine management, a big drop needs tae be looked intae. Ye need tae dae it regular tho cos if only occassionally ye winnae get a right figure as it relates tae how ye have been drivin etc jist tae that tank full. That way ye get a good average figure and a proper feel for how yer bikes performin.

Doubt ah wid change the Tuono tho but if it was anything else would def consider it!

Ahm also runnin a 3.2DID SHogun so ah ken awe aboot pish mpg!!!

.

Ha ha ha, we've got a 3.5 Murano and it loves petrol more than i like alcohol and believe me i do like a snifter or 2.

Tank capacity on the tuoldo is 18 litres. I tend not to use 6th heck of a lot in the roads I use and saw 120miles on mine without the fuel light coming on. Yes it does work as it was on when I filled it up before the ride. Quite happy with my fuel consumption. It's never come on under 100 miles and considering I don't use 6th that much and am a fairly fast rider when I want to be I'm happy as larry with the consumption of the combustable stuff

ride my gen 1 every day to work and back, 20 mile round trip, always fill up to the brim and usually get 115 miles till light comes on, weekend blasts usually just manage 100.

Mine came on at 52 miles today so filled it up and got 11 litres in WTF? then it came on again at 54miles after second fill up, sommat up with sensor.

Usually I fill up at 80 miles then I get 15l in, the reserve usually comes on at 70-80miles tho.

defo something in the way we drive the things. On the Fud Run I was using slightly less fuel than Rico except on the long dual carriageway run, when we both used about the same.

London commuting.

I have a gen 2 06 Tuono and commute regularly in London. I get about 65 miles before the light comes on if I'm just riding around town. I get nearer to 100 if I'm out on the open road.

I did think there must be a problem as the fuel consumption seemed high so I took it to the garage. They dyno tested it and found it was running a bit lean if anything.

I have a 15 tooth sprocket on the front and standard rear.

Never really worried bout consumption til i did snetterton 300 the other week.

LORDY!!! she hav`s a drink round there:yes

Exactly the same, mate. Did 110+ (mixed riding - town, highway) with the light already on and still had 3 liters left

I was watching the Senior TT race last night I recorded last week and it was saying on there they're setting off with a full tank of petrol of 22 litres. Now I wonder if they meant that included reserve as well.

I have a 2010 1000r with 15/43 ratios and did a track day at snetterton 300 last week and got 66 miles to the light in one tank load, thats with the needle bouncing the rev limiter a few times a lap....that was better than both me and my mate on his 2008 factory were expecting. if i got the same on my daily commute i would be horrified and think i had a problem.

before ah changed tae 15/42 sprocks wiz regularly gettin aboot 35 tae the gallon ( light oan approz 105 miles) Noo dropped doon tae 30 tae the gallon an light oan aboot 88 -90miles which is the doon side o awe that extra fun wi the new gearin..

Update time since ah did this post........

Back tae gettin typically light coming oan at 105-110. Gettin aboot 35-36mpg typically. Must be related tae mah 9pts and takin it reall easier an nae thrashin the erse of it everywhere.

On this years Euro ride doon tae the Nurburgring ah twice saw nearly 130miles showin and still the light wiznae on.

Averaged oot aroond 42 miles tae the gallon on that trip which wiznae bad for a fully loaded "touring" Tuono, particulalry as there was a fair bit o hard raspin aboot roond the hairpins and twisties o the Eifell Forest region.

Aye rmin but me and Nob wir hanging aboot fir hours waitin fir yer.

Jokin mucker. :thumbup

Well I did the best ever yesterday, 141 miles before the light came on.

And, that was 80ish miles of hooning around with Bay & Gilo on Tuesday, then 50ish miles of riding home about 80ish.

Gen1s are clearly much better with fuel.

My gen2 fuel light usually comes on around 70mls max (Fast riding) to 90+ going to Cornwall in the rain the other week. But only ever get about 10 to 11ltrs in on s/stand , meaning its coming on early by about 4ltrs.

I'd heard the Gen 1's are betting for economy. It pisses me off only getting around 35 to the gallon out of the gen 2, but it still floats my boat with all it power etc.

If you are concerned about economy, get a Honda 50 or a bus pass.

Get out ther & wring its neck.
