High air flow Performance open air filter

As the title reads guys. High air flow Performance open air filter kits :inlove
For the guys i ride with it will be of no surprise that i have posted this thread.
As it has been a long and Nearly done drawn out process inc lots of moulds, saucing the correct materials from suppliers and R&D well 8 weeks actually but hay its not my full time job plus kids etc etc.

Anyway this is a taster of what I've been doing,This all started as i searched the forum and read the many threads and posts from forum members regarding the different types of performance upgrade filters. IE the Badger,the Homer,the Evo,and the Renegade,there's also the cut your own the wooden etc etc.The 2 mane differences between them sealed box ie evo type,and the open type IE the Renegade. The argument still remains im sure your agree there is the sealed camp,and the open camp.My understanding is the Evo offers Ram air but mid to high end and at speed but looses out low down.And the Renegade offers instant low down and mid range but is the same at the top end.So as a personal choice i chose the later open design.Also led buy the guys i ride with raving on about theres and that i must buy one.:jack

Next was OK where can i buy one from.The occasional used Renegade filter comes up on e-bay £120 but there like rocking horse sh-t. Tried the dealers and there all sold out and have been for months also when you could buy not much change out of £200.00 depending on dealers uke

Write then i want one you guys want them.I will make the how hard can it be
Ha Fu-king Ha.Its not easy at all.And that's why there that much to buy i suppose,anyway persevere :rant and well Ive cracked it well nearly :doug

all will be aircraft Epoxy resin ..and stand heat well :thumbup

The fibreglass one has a the white is a gel-coat finish so it will yellow / brown through time. This is a good coat for a paint finish. I would imagine these would look smart painted with a heat resistant paint. :biggrin


The Pre-preg glass, actually weighs the same as the carbon one but is stronger ,construction is glass pre-preg with a foam core for local stiffening.


And then of course there is the Carbon plate ive shown it twice as there's going to be a difference in price depending on weather you want plain carbon,or the polished lacquered version.

Each kit depending only on your choice of material for the base plate,will come with the following: Plate,K&N style mini filter,Piper cross 150 bhp high flow filter,extended oil breather hose & Jubilee clip,And Duz fixing clips to attach/remove piper cross filter.

You will Reg from your old OEM filter box. The trumpets/Stacks and fasting screw x4,the original x6 throttle body screws and the little metal plate for the sensor.That's it folks :biggrin

There are x4 different prices in price order .The price will inc recorded postage and packaging to your door.:eatcorn

The reason for the different prices is purely your budget,they all do the same job just different appearance and weight.( however the heaviest & cheapest fibreglass one has with the white is a gel-coat finish ) is at least half the weight of the OEM airbox :biggrin

The price excludes PAYPAL charges @ 3.4% plus .20p

Replacing the Airbox with the new Performance air filter

This is only a guide, I’m not a mechanic, I’m just telling you how I replaced mine, and the reason for putting this on here is because the confusion shown by a couple of members that were “unsure”.
Remove seat unit 2 x Allen bolts under the rear 2 x seat corners
Lift Tank Remove 2 x bolts at the front of tank, using tank stand (on side of sub frame)
Place on top yoke and slot top into tank bolt holes on tank
Air Filter removal Remove the 7 bolts on the air box lid, once you have opened the air box remove the filter and place to one side. (No longer required)
The bottom of the is air box is held onto the throttle bodies by 6 x Allen bolts, remove these screws as these will be required to re-install your open air box
On the left hand side of the bike (if you were sitting on it) is a sensor just on the underneath of the box. Slide this towards you away from the filter box,
Using a long flat headed screwdriver release the large jubilee clip from the front of the airbox intake
Disconnect the oil breather pipe from the bottom of the air box and also from the engine end too.
The old filter box can now be removed.
This sensor holding plate needs to be removed and added to the base of the new open filter plate.
Remove the 2 x trumpets using the screws to re-install them onto the new base plate.

Installing the new Performance Airbox
Offer the base plate up to the top of the throttle bodies and install the 6 x Allen bolts to secure the plate in position.
Tighten jubilee clip to the front of the new base plate.
Install the sensor back onto the new base plate
Using the supplied length of hose attach one end to the engine breather funnel and the other end to the oil breather filter on top of the new plate.
Add the Piper cross filter back to the filter base plate using the Dzus fasteners and your good to go.

Oh get yourself some ear plugs because that induction noise…..you will either LOVE it or hate it. It is such a great sound!
