Hi and wot bag?

Have you done the Pyrenees before? I posted a bit of video on Youtube of one of the last Pyrenees trips we did. I will dig out the links for you. We are going in June so are expecting a bit of rain. I will also post up the google route later. possibly on another thread.

trenny, yes i have been last year...was bloody fantastic, went through france from st malo down to spanish side empty roads ! im going in june aswell...it wont rain, much lol i have been study maps since last year just so many roads need 10 weeks i reckon:thumbup going back to germany, austria , switzerland, maybe itali again as well...just hope prilly is not gunna hurt me, my 1050 is mega comphy. cant wait to go whooooooooooooooooo:doug

I went down to lake Como in July 2009 on a Triple 1050. Heavy rain for all of it but brilliant. Year before I did Spain to UK via France on a Blade. Santander to Barcelona through the Pyrenees and then Andorra to France, heading for La Rochelle - Spain was nice but I would never go through Andorra again. Poring rain and 10000 caravans. We never got over 15mph so had to re-plan the end of the trip.

This year we go away at the end of June with an overnight Santander Ferry and trip up the west coast of France to a huge caravan park in Messengas http://www.levieuxport.com/ (Nice 8 birth caravan for three of us, 7 swimming pools and a bar.) this will be our home for 4 nights and we will aim for different routes through the Pyrenees each day. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=206875139927543283837.000492a8a6abe34cb09a8&ll=43.141078,-1.466675&spn=2.084255,5.410767&z=8

If you have a Tomtom or Garmin then try TYRE for planning. It integrates with Google Maps and makes your itinerary files. http://www.janboersma.nl/gett/

Like you, we are refining the plan every day and will do until we leave.

trenny, thats pretty much what we thought andora was caravan city! we just went in to spanish side instantley no traffic..just the job, your map you posted was pretty much where we rode around aswell, funny as we are also going to santander on ferry nail round mountains then back to santander, saves tyre squaring france lol..i know its not that bad but when you have to get back in a short time it allways happends, what 1050 did you have speed trip?

Hi Elvin

Yes, I recon its cheaper to get the ferry down and back and stay in the mountains for great riding. Ferry is £250 return and Mobile Home on the park for 4 nights is £200 for 8 birth. But we will only have 3 or 4 in it but still a cheap quality holiday. Fridge, BBQ and Mountains - what more could a biker want? I would stay for longer but the missus would burn the bike if I did. A night each way on the ferry is much better than a long trip down through France in my humble opinion. And as you say, no time wasted squaring off tyres.

I had a 57 plate Triumph Speed Triple 1050. I loved it but it had to go as I had a year off due to new baby. Really pleased with the Tuono now but looking forward to testing the new one when it comes out.

Enjoy your ride out. I look forward to reading about it on here.

Cheers fir that trenny.

I attempted something similar 30 years ago, I ended up going on my own but the weather wis utter **** there and back.

I've got routes and backup plans that I made two years ago, I'm going again this summer.

trenny, the thing is even if you just go and ride any road thats in mountains it will be ace:thumbup i dont book any where to stay just stop where you feel like, loads of places, even just 15miles outside santander the road is coolio! going down not coast way...at work so no road numbers but i havent riden the route before...just youtubed it...i reckon it will be ace whaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy

Hey Trenny, looks like you're just down the road from me. I can't help you with luggage for the T as that stays at home and I use a Sprint 1050 for touring. But if you want to know anything about the Spanish Pyrenees I might be your man. I've been there.... oooh, about six times now and each time find something new. I don't do camping anymore, specially when there's a rather nice hotel in a little place called Campo that costs us around £80 per night - and that's one person per twin room - inclusive of all food and bar bills. One of the best roads for a balls-out run has to be the N260 from Ainsa to Campo - simply awesome.

Thanks for the info. I just pinned N260 on my map. It might be a bit too far from where we are staying but I will see. Maybe next time.

Get a Spain and France thread going I'd love something like that next year. Seriously, put some roads and tips up. Fookin TZone meet up somewhere sunny or wot ???

Ok mucker, I'll do a 2500mile trip wae nae r----------s on it.

You up fir that?

I'll get to work then. :thumbup:thumbup:thumbup
