So got 3 sessions into my full day of Snetterton when all the sudden going down the front straight, i shift down a gear and hear a huge POP come from between my legs somewhere. Bike shuts off, release the clutch the bike kicks alive but then there was a horrible clicking sound coming from the bottom somewhere. Needless to say i pull off as soon as i can. Get off the track and the bike won't move in gear. Give it gas and it shuts off. Oil light and the ! light are on. Bike starts up after a few turns. Runs at idle fine, except the clicking sound i can't figure out. Give it gas and the bike shuts off....

Have already had to cancel my next track day and now just need to worry about getting the bike back and running. I would be greatly appreciative if any of you know/have seen this happen before. It's a 2008 RSVR, with just over 6k miles on it. Had the 6k miles service done not more then a month ago. Please help if you can, as it has ruined my whole weekend and next week just knowing that i have no idea what is wrong with it.

If the clutch was failing would it cause the bike to shut off if i twisted the throttle alittle bit in Neutral? I'd like to lean towards a clutch problem, as it might be a cheaper fix. I need to look out for everything though. Some people at the track say i might have over rev'd it, as it was happening as i was down shifting. For the life of me i can't remember if it happened after or before i released the clutch on the down shift. It all happened so quick....

I would drop your oil before running the bike anymore and look closely at what comes out.

Rsv's really don't like hitting the limiter especially on the over run. It may be something simple but if it is serious trying to fire here up will only make it worse.

What exactly did yours do if you don't mind me asking?
popped out i guess he is saying, i have had one pop out as well but what you have described doesnt really sound like that.

it runs rough and sounds like one of the down pipes have come off.

when you say bike wont move in gear do you mean whilst pushing it with the engine off?
if thats what you mean then this is normal the V Twin isnt bumpable (well i tried but never managed it)

When i say won't move in gear i mean i put it in first from a stop and release the clutch like normal to go and it doesn't go anywhere. Just stops and the bike shuts off. It's bumpable, just have to manage to be going fast enough, i'm thinking about 60mph+ as that's how i got it started on the track after hearing the pop. lol

Check the tip over sensor behind the battery if its come loose might be that m8 and also check the battery terminals you never know good luck....

Thanks for all the pointers guys. Need to get a truck so i can go pick it up and actually look into it. Was just trying to get an idea of what i should be looking for.
